Best Places for Kids to Eat Free in Elgin, IL

Dining can become very expensive when taking the whole family out to eat so finding kid friendly restaurants where kids eat free becomes very important when on a budget.

If you live in Elgin, Illinois or near Elgin, the choices of restaurants where the entire family can enjoy a good meal and kids can eat free will not disappoint. Here you will find four highlighted restaurants including: Colonial Café, Lone Star Steakhouse, Buffalo Wild Wings and Steak 'n Shake.

Colonial Cafe

600 South McLean Boulevard Elgin IL

Mondays (after 4:00 pm): Kids, ages 10 and under eat free off the kids menu with a purchase of an adult sandwich or entrée. There is a limit of 2 free kids' meals with each adult purchase.

The first Monday of every month, there is a balloon entertainer from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm.

The kids' menu options include: breakfast at anytime such as: chocolate chip pancakes, eggs with bacon, regular pancakes and French toast. The dinner items on the kids' menu include: fresh fruit dippers, chicken fingers, chicken nuggets, mini corn dogs, hot dog, mini cheeseburgers or hamburgers plus many more excellent kids' meal choices.

The adult menu options include: many breakfast items with some being served all day, dinner items include: appetizers, soups, hamburgers, signature sandwiches, home style entrees and weekend specials.

Colonial Café is a very family friendly restaurant where alcohol is not served and it is an establishment where parents can relax and kids can have fun, the kids' menu along with crayons that are given for free keep the kids entertained. The food is tasty, the drinks are unlimited and the ice cream is to die for! The restaurant does get busy on Mondays when kids eat free especially on the Mondays when the balloon entertainer comes so be prepared to possibly wait a bit to get a table.

Lone Star Steakhouse

155 South Randall Road Elgin IL

Tuesdays (all day): Kids, ages 12 and under eat free off the kids menu with a purchase of an adult entrée. There s a limit of 2 free kids' meals with each adult purchase.

The kids' menu options include: macaroni and cheese, hamburger, cheeseburger, chicken tenders, grilled chicken with broccoli or steak medallions. The meals are also served with a choice of: steak fries, mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli or applesauce.

The adult menu options include: appetizers, soups and chili, salads, a variety of steaks, chicken, fish and pork dinners, burgers and sandwiches.

Lone Star Steakhouse is a fun atmosphere; it is fairly loud in the restaurant so there is no worry if the kids tend to be a bit noisy. It is a kid friendly restaurant that families can enjoy having a good meal at.

Buffalo Wild Wings

402 Randall Road South Elgin IL

Wednesdays: Kids, ages 12 and under can eat for $1.99 off the kids menu with the drink included, valid only with an adult meal purchase.

The kids' menu options include: corn dog, cheeseburger, boneless wings, chicken tenders, traditional wings, chicken tenders, macaroni and cheese. Meals are served with French fries and a drink.

The adult menu options include: appetizers, greens, wings, tenders, flatbreads, wraps & buffalitos, sandwiches, ribs & combos, beefy burgers, desserts and beverages.

Buffalo Wild Wings' atmosphere is really busy and fun, there are lots of TV's, electronic type games and activities for families to keep themselves busy. The food can be messy but it is really fun to try all the different types of wings.

Steak 'n Shake

290 South Randall Road Elgin IL

Saturdays and Sundays: Kids, ages 12 and under eat free off the kids' menu when every $8.00 is spent.

The kids' menu options include: chicken fingers, grilled cheese, mac and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, steak frank, steak burger minis and steakburger.

The kids' meals come in a really neat classic car box that can be collected, kids look forward to see which car they will receive.

The adult menu options include: chili, melts, original steakburgers, steakburger shooters, steak franks, sandwiches, salads and sides.

Steak 'n Shakes 50's era style dining is a lot of fun for the family, not only does the food taste great but Steak 'n Shake is known for their malts and shakes so it is impossible not to leave the dining experience without trying one of their sweet treats.

    Great...kids often eat so little at a restaurant that it can be such a waste paying for a full meal for them.
