Best Places to Live in Georgia (2012)
Household Income, Educational Attainment, and Property Crime Rates
This article, the tenth in a 50-state series, ranks the best places to live in Georgia based on three criteria: (1) median household income (adjusted for cost of living); (2) educational attainment (% of residents 25 years and over who have earned a bachelor's degree or higher); and (3) property crime rates per 1,000 residents (burglary and automobile thefts). For purposes of these rankings, "places" are incorporated municipalities with populations greater than 2,000.
Among the twenty best places to live in Georgia, eighteen are suburbs of Atlanta, one is a suburb of Athens, and one is a suburb of Savannah. By county, five of the best places to live in Georgia are located in Gwinnett County, three in DeKalb County, three in Fulton County, two in Cherokee County, two in Cobb County, two in Fayette County, one each in Coweta and Chatham Counties, and one partially in Barrow, Gwinnett, Hall, and Jackson Counties.

My sister-in-law bought a newly built home in Milton, GA in a gated community. She has no problems living in GA. I have driven through northern GA and saw well kept and visted several towns that are considered the best places to live in GA and was impressed with these towns. Eventually, my wife will moving to northern GA to live near realtives.
Georgia is full of poverty, crime, unemployment, and the public schools are a disgrace. If you rely on medicaid at this point in your life, then stay far away from Georgia. If you do not want to call the police on your neighbors for various reasons (domestic disputes, unruly teenagers, etc.), then stay away from Georgia. If you want a job that doesn't involve low pay, fast food, or long hours of brainless work, then stay away from Georgia. If you want your children to learn good habits at school, find good friends at school, and to be safe while they are at school, then stay away from Georgia. Georgia is the land that America has forgot about. It is a wasteland. If a country is only as strong as its weakest state or region, then Georgia puts the USA at a 3rd-world country status. Georgia needs help.
