Post a CommentOregon is as economically depressed as any of the rust belt states. Crime, especially in the Portland Metro area is out of control and meth is the leading contributor. We may have a decent minimum wage 8.50 right now..but you cannot survive on it. Rents are high, property taxes are really high. Many counties have a 13% unemployment rates. Salem and Eugene are struggling and so are Medford & Grants Pass areas. If you don't have a job here, don't move here. Many Oregonians are migrating to places like TX and GA to find work. Oregon is a great place to visit but overall, it's a cloudy, depressing, rainy place. I'm a native who has lived here all my life and I'm considering selling the home I own outright so that I can move somewhere else so I can afford to eat and keep the power on.
I've considered living in Oregon. Good article :)
My aunt and uncle lived in Corvalis....blew out the side of a monutain to build their home..Oeegon is quite the spot.
