Best Places to Party on St. Patrick's Day in Reno, NV 2010 - Bars & Restaurants

A Guide to St. Patrick's Day Pub Crawling in Reno Nevada

Revelers Rejoice! You're in Reno, where there is no such thing as last call! So put on your party pants (preferably green ones) and get ready to start the St. Patrick's Day fun.

Around 9pm, the city of Reno closes down the 1500 block of Well's Avenue to begin the Irish celebration. People are then free to roam the streets and visit the numerous beer tents lining the sidewalks. Drunken pub crawlers; you're in luck. Most of the participating bars are conveniently located within 1 mile of each other, on one of two streets just south of Downtown Reno: Wells Avenue and South Virginia Street.

The action normally starts at Rapscallion's Seafood House & Bar. Rapscallion's is an excellent location for a pre-party dinner, and they serve delicious food to get you ready for a long night of drinking. If you plan to dine there on St Patrick's Day, be sure to make reservations well in advance, because this place gets packed early in the evening. Some of their best menu items include the Sesame Seed Encrusted Ahi, Filet Mignon with Jack Daniels Peppercorn Dijon Cream Sauce, and the "Shrobster" (a Chef's Creation of a ½ Maine lobster stuffed with rock shrimp, lobster, scallions, parmesan cheese and bread crumbs).

If you can still move after all of this delicious food, take a walk across the street to Corrigan's Bit O'Ireland, where the tunes of the Irish Rovers will lure you inside. Whilst inside you'll find some of the best Irish car bombs ever created, and a juke box packed with great tunes. This skinny bar is normally so packed full of people on St Patty's day that you might end up standing outside waiting to get in, but it's well worth the wait.

From there, you can hang around outside & visit the numerous green beer tents, or embrace your adventurous side and take an inebriated walk to Virginia Street. Just under 1 mile from Wells Street, are two excellent bars for St. Patrick's Day partying: Amendment 21and Ceol Irish Pub.

Check out Amendment 21, whose clever namesake celebrates the repealing of our 18th amendment - which had begun the heinous act of prohibition back in 1920. Although not an Irish pub, this place knows how to party. With a substantial sized bar, plenty of seating, pool tables, darts, and even an X-box, there's no lack of a good time here. Their 2009 St Patrick's Day Celebration was awesome, and I'm guessing 2010 will be even better.

Now if you want to visit a true Irish Bar (and who wouldn't on St Patty's Day!) dart across the street from Amendment 21 to Ceol Irish Pub. This is a great place to go for live Irish music ~ fitting, as the word Ceol is the Gaelic word for music. Never a lack of good ol' Irish Whiskey, and super friendly service, Ceol may turn into your home away from home.

With all of these places to choose from, and many more bars lining the streets of Reno, there's no doubt you'll have an exiting St Patrick's Day. Slàinte to you all, and as the saying goes, "If you're lucky enough to be Irish, then you're lucky enough!"

I was in Reno last year for St Patrick's Day and this town knows how to party! Normally I go to San Francisco for the holiday, but was very surprised that I had comparable fun in Reno. Rapscallion's has amazing food - some of the best in Reno.
