If You Want to Get in on the Ice, Here Are Some Places to Play in Michigan
The wintertime in Michigan offers many outdoor ice rinks for anyone and their friends to go and play on free, although for the more serious competitors or those that want to learn to play hockey in Michigan they go to the local training facilities.
One example of these facilities is Glacier Pointe Ice Complex located off Lapeer, in Port Huron. Glacier Pointe Ice Complex offers training for any level of hockey player, along with the ability to register and compete in the local leagues. The leagues include youth's, all the way through to adults. Of course, Glacier Point Ice Complex doesn't stop there they also have a fully equipped sports shop and a knowledgeable staff that can help anyone decide on what equipment they will need.
Flint Iceland Arena is located off South Elms Rd in Flint is also a great place to play hockey in Michigan. Due to Flint Iceland Arena's size, the youth players are required to go through a draft, to keep teams fair. Flint Iceland Arena also offers a variety of classes that included skill development and stick handling. Flint Iceland Arena offers every Wednesday "drop in hockey" for the person who is looking to just jump in and play.
Another great place to check out when wanting to play hockey in Michigan is The Edge Ice Arena, located off Holland Ave in Holland. Edge Ice Arena takes its hockey very serious, offering youth clinics, adult hockey clinics, and even hockey camps. They are all about making sure everyone is prepared and can play the game safely. The Edge Ice Arena is also home to a couple local high schools varsity and junior varsity hockey teams making them well known throughout the community.
Whether you are looking for a place to play hockey in Michigan or a place to train for hockey in Michigan, almost every town will have something that will meets your needs. Many people in Michigan take their hockey very seriously so when you get on the ice there make sure you come prepared. Being well trained to play hockey helps to prevent an injury and gives you the skills to pursue a lifelong dream. Just remember hockey is a rough sport and in order to play hockey in Michigan a person has to be mentally tough as well as physical.
