Best Places for Summer, Family and Affordable Fun: Beaches!

Vanessa Rochea
We have traveled to caves, amusement parks, zoos, and aquariums thus far in our quest to find the best places for summer, family, and affordable fun. Today, we will be traveling the number one (1) best place for summer, family, and affordable fun. That place is a beach. From the Atlantic to the Pacific to the Gulf, if there is an Ocean there is a beach close to it. Let's grab our flip flops, swim suits, and beach toys as we see what all a beach has to offer!

Let us start with the sand. The sand alone can provide hours of adventure. Kids--and adults--can make Sand Castles. We can cover ourselves in sand. We can walk along the sand. The sand also provides a great game of treasure hunt as everybody can dig for sea-shells. The sand comes with our stay.

The next part of the beach is the ocean. An ocean provides almost limitless fun. Young kids enjoy nothing more than jumping over the waves. This is great! Saves us money because we don't need to buy extra boards. Just make sure to hold the kids' hands as they wave-jump. Besides wave jumping, we can also surf, swim with dolphins, and/or jet-ski, to name a few, while at the beach!

Beaches are an incredible centerpiece for its surroundings. Everything from go-carting to science can be found at places close to the beach. For example, just around the corner from Orange Beach is Gulf Shores, Alabama. There guest can find the Gulf Shores Museum. The Gulf Shores Museum is the place to learn about hurricanes. Guest will watch a video about Hurricane Hunters, the damages caused by hurricanes, and how the city is rebuilt at hurricanes.

Other fun attractions to check out, while at the beach, are local sports teams like the Pelicans of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Guest can watch the movie of the year at the local theater. Guest can also shop at the local shopping center. Please, support the locals by trying out the local eateries such as: Alexander's Pizza or Alfonso's both located in San Diego, California.

Thinking I cannot go to the beach? Thinking the beach might be free, but where can I afford to stay? Good news, everybody can afford to stay on the beach. With the economy down, discounts are up. Check local papers or request information from the area's website to find discounts. Also, consider going on vacation with a group. For instance, according to the magazine CondoLux it would cost $1,590 a week to stay in a 2 bed room/ 2 bath room oceanfront condo that sleeps 8 people in the Myrtle Beach Condo: Oceans One. When we divide $1,590 by the eight people on the trip that's only $198.75 per person for a one week vacation!

Beaches offer adventure in the sand; oceans of fun; attractions galore; local eateries; and a place to stay all for an affordable price. For that, BEACHES are deemed the number one best place for summer, family, and affordable fun!
