The Bahamas - Diversity of Shark Species Makes the Bahamas a Popular Choice for Divers
One of my most thrilling experiences was the snorkeling expedition I took with my two teenage sons, while vacationing in the Bahamas. Our ½- day snorkeling adventure was arranged by Stuart Cove and our final stop was a reef teeming with Caribbean reef sharks. For those who have never swum with sharks, it is much less dangerous than it sounds. The diving company lowered the bait box to the bottom of the ocean floor to attract the sharks, while swimmers had the opportunity to view the sharks while they were feeding, from a safe distance, forty-feet above them at the top of the water. The Bahamas shark dive lasted just ten-minutes, but it was definitely thrilling and enlightening. I recommend swimming with sharks in the Bahamas via one of Stuart Cove's guided snorkeling or scuba adventures to anyone wishing to see sharks up close in a safe environment.
Looking for More Adventure Head to Tiger Beach to Cage Dive with Tiger Sharks
Located just 20 miles off the west coast of Grand Bahamas Island is a place known as Tiger Beach. Here thrill seekers can cage dive with one of the most dangerous creatures in the world, the tiger shark. Adult tiger sharks are on average eight to fourteen feet long and they are second to only the great white in the number of reported attacks on humans. Cage diving with tiger sharks is considered to be safe, but as in any extreme wildlife vacation activity, make sure you find a reputable diving company.

Sharm el Sheikh is the most popular diving area in Egypt. The Red Sea has long been a popular site for divers due to the diversity of the sharks. Here divers have one of the best chances of swimming with the strange hammerhead sharks. Besides several varieties of hammerheads, divers may see black tip reef sharks, grey reef sharks and silky sharks.

Australia's Great Barrier Reef - World's Most Famous Scuba Location
One day I will visit Australia'sGreat Barrier Reef. I have met many who have snorkeled or scuba dived in this most famous location, and their description of the breath taking beauty of the dives have quite literally "taken my breath away". Post a CommentI swam with the sharks at Stuart's Cove for my first certified dive -- and wrote about it on AC, one of the first things I wrote about here. I highly recommend the dive and Stuart's Cove -- very professional outfit.
As a devoted scuba diver, I love shark encounters, but thus far my biggest were a 2-meter leopard shark and a 3-meter nurse shark.
I have never swam with sharks - but I did swim with Dophins off the coast of Mexico. Not intended - they just showed up! Cheers :)
Yes, do go to Australia where the beaches and the reef are fabulous. I swam with reef sharks, and an occasional scarier one, in French Polynesia. We were always more scared of the barracuda than the ordinary sharks.
