Best Places for a Taco in Manchester, Tennessee

Kelly Banaski Sons
Tennessee is a long stretch of state in the southern half of the country and Manchester is way down at the bottom of the state. It is a town small in size but large opportunity. It is home to Bonarroo, the prestigious, annual music festival. It is also home to Old Stone Fort, a state park where you can find Indian relics and learn about the town's early history. It is also diverse in its eateries, boasting three authentic Mexican restaurants that have been in the area over ten years.

Las Palmas is a small restaurant serving Spanish food. The inside is festively decorated in red and green but the real draw centers on the individual booths. Situated all around the walls of the dining room, the booths have adobe walls and tera cotta shingles overhead. You'll find everything Mexican from tacos and fajita's to margaritas and sangria. They provide a kids menu and have a happy hour as well.

Los 3 Amigos is a staple in Manchester. This Mexican food restaurant is 100% authentic and has been in the area almost 15 years. The basic Mexican fare is always available as well as a kids menu. There are also some specialties occasionally offered such as shrimp cocktail with Pico laden jumbo shrimp served with warm corn tortilla chips. Margarita's, shots of Tequila and Sangria are the popular drinks from the full bar which also serves Dos Equis and other Mexican beers.

El Manantial Taqueria is a newcomer to the area, only being in existence for about five years. All three meals of the day are served as well as a variety of Mexican beers and mixed drinks. Margarita's, Pina Colada's and Sangria are popular choices as well. The basic Spanish cuisine is the prevailing flavor but you will find some new twists from this authentic eatery. Lime seasoned T-bone steaks with Pico sprinkled over it, a sampling of egg dishes, genuine guacamole and several fajita recipes will leave your feeling like your south of the border.

We're coming through TN this summer. We'll have to stop in and get a taco.
