Best Places for Thanksgiving and Holiday Meals in Milwaukee, WI

For Those that Just Don't Feel like Cooking on Turkey Day

S H
It's that time of year again, where the hustle and bustle of the holiday season begins. Thanksgiving Day is still a couple of weeks away, but that is more than close enough to start your plans and preparations for the holiday. For instance, not only deciding what to do for Thanksgiving or what to serve, but even whether you want to cook at all. More and more families each year are simply deciding to take a break from the traditional all-day cooking session and buy their entire Thanksgiving meal already prepared. Listed below are just a few of the places in Milwaukee where you can get a Turkey dinner (or an alternative) to go.

Outpost Natural Foods

One of the best places to go for everything organic, their Thanksgiving dinner is no exception. While not a meal you can just take home and eat right away, most of the preparation is already done. All you have to do is cook the pre-thawed turkey and heat up the side dishes.

There are three types of turkey to choose from - Bell and Evans naturally raised turkeys at $1.99/LB; Heritage turkeys, for the dark meat fan, at $4.99/LB; and Bone-in breast, which are just perfect for a really small gathering of people, at $3.99/LB.

Also to choose from are a good variety of gourmet side dishes, many of which are vegan, with everything from wild rice pilaf ($4.59/LB) to something known as Autumn Delight ($4.99/LB). A little on the pricey side, but you shouldn't expect to be able to get anything cheaply for this holiday when it's prepared for you - especially when it's made at its highest quality.

Of course the day could never be complete without some type of dessert. Like pie, for instance. This store has all the Thanksgiving favorites, plus a couple of rarities if you're looking for a change of pace.

There isn't exactly a limit on the amount of time you have to buy your dinner from here - but the fresh turkeys arrive on November 16th, and everything from there is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Tofurky

For vegetarians and vegans alike, this online stop has just what you want for Thanksgiving. Each dinner comes with a Tofurky roast, eight cranberry-apple potato dumplings, Tofurky giblet and mushroom gravy, herbed brown and Tofurky wild rice stuffing, and Tofurky Jurky Wishstix. For four servings at $54.95, this is probably the best completely-vegetarian Thanksgiving special that I've seen.

Larry's Market

For a simple and yet scrumptious meal, this is the place to go. Everything is fully prepared and packed in foil containers, and just need to be heated and eaten!

Along with the main dish (Fresh roast turkey, sliced boneless roast turkey breast, or roast duck), there is a whole plethora of sides and condiments to choose from and enjoy. From the very basic to the more complex, and some homemade pies and other desserts to top things off, this is a place that definitely has something for everyone. If all of that is not enough, though, they also offer a vast assortement of appetizers, quiche, and drinks.

Orders must be placed by Saturday, November 18th in order to pick up on Wednesday, November 22nd.
