Best Places for Thanksgiving and Holiday Meals in San Francisco, CA

Others Do the Cooking so You Don't Have To

S H
One of the new techniques of the holiday season is to completely skip cooking your own Thanksgiving dinner - that's right, every year, more and more people are simply opting to have the entire meal already prepared. Some of us are still willing to slave over a stove all day, and happy with doing so. But the benefits of taking a turkey dinner to go are quite obvious. Here is a compiled list of some of the best places in San Francisco to do just that.

Mollie Stone's

Every year, Mollie Stone's offers a huge and complete turkey dinner (serving about ten to twelve people) for $99.99. For the variety and size of this meal, that's more than worth the price.

The dinner comes with one free-range turkey; bread stuffing; mashed potatoes and rich pan gravy; maple orange-glazed sweet potatoes and yams; green beans and sweet red peppers; New England cranberry sauce; fresh-baked sweet dinner rolls; and a delicious pumpkin pie.

If all of that isn't enough for you, then you can also choose to purchase extra side dishes individually. You must order three days in advance to get this special.

The Pasta Shop

Instead of one giant already-chosen meal for you, you get to put this one together yourself. Everything is individually priced, so you can buy accordingly to the size and tastes of your dinner guests.

Go right into the store, or use the special "Put Together a Thanksgiving Dinner" order form at their website. There are a wide variety of options available, which of course includes roasted turkey. Also to choose from are game hens, soup and pasta, and a whole bunch of side dishes, condiments and desserts.

This is all available from Monday, November 21 to Wednesday, November 23. All orders must be placed by 2 PM on Monday for pick-up on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Whole Foods Markets

One of the city's favorites for buying a pre-made Thanksgiving dinner, this supermarket also offers it completely organic. Each feast comes with a Roasted Diestel turkey, gravy, stuffing, cranberry relish, green beans, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, pie and rolls, all for $99.99. You can up the price a bit to $119.99 for a smoked turkey dinner, or go completely different with their Dungeness crab dinner for $255.99. For vegetarians, they also offer a vegan dinner for four, with dessert for $54.99.

Depending on the size of your dinner, you may need to add more. There are other meal options available, for more or less servings, or you can decide to put it all together yourself - the shop also has a wide variety of items sold individually.

The Sunday before Thanksgiving is the deadline for all dinner orders.

Garibaldi's

Head over to this restaurant on Presidio Ave. to order a Turkey dinner with just about everything, including salad and dessert. For $24.95 a person it's a little bit on the expensive side, but for the gourmet quality of the food it's pretty much worth it. You must put in your order by the Monday before Thanksgiving.

California Culinary Academy

Every year the California Culinary Academy puts together a complete Thanksgiving feast that is fit for 8-10 people. A nice deal for $140, this meal includes a large turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, carrots, cranberries, biscuits, gravy, yams and pie. Monday is the deadline for orders, and can be picked up on Thanksgiving.

As a big city, there are many more options for finding a turkey dinner to-go. These listed are just a scratch on the surface of what there is to offer.
