There is nothing better than fellowshipping on Thanksgiving. However, wherever there is a blessing there is typically a burden before or behind it. On Thanksgiving the burden typically starts a few days before with first having to go out and shop for all of the food and ingredients needed to bring your family recipes to life. Some people spend from a week to 3 days getting ready to dazzle and entice family and friends on Thanksgiving. That's great for those who have the time, resources and strength to accomplish this sometimes daunting task. What about that single person with no family close by or that newlywed couple that hasn't quite figured out how to turn their oven on, let alone trying to figure out how to bake a turkey in it.
No need to worry, there's always a restaurant open on Thanksgiving Day. Some places open from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. others don't open until after 5 p.m. for dinner. There is a place for everyone this Holiday Season. Here are my top 3 picks for the City of Macon, Georgia:
Red Lobster - Who doesn't love Red Lobster? Although, you probably won't be able to order roast turkey and ham you'll enjoy your pick of seafood dishes and who can resist those cheese biscuits! They will be open from 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. No reservations are necessary, however if you have a large party you might want to call ahead to ensure timely service at 1-478-746-3263. Red Lobster is located at 2077 Riverside Drive in Macon, Georgia.
S&S Cafeteria - Eat all the turkey, ham and All American fare you please. This family style restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. with no reservations required. However if you want more information regarding their menu please give them a call at 1-478-746-9406. S&S Cafeteria is located at 2626 Riverside Drive in Macon, Georgia.
Cracker Barrel - It's not just for travelers any more. As I have traveled the road far and wide for many years, I always take time out to enjoy a good meal. Their homemade pancakes with pure maple syrup is heavenly. In over 10 years, I have never had a meal I didn't love and their vegetables are always fresh and hot. They will be observing their regular operating hours of 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. If you need directions or information regarding their menu choices please give them a call at 1-478-474-7029.
This year, leave the shopping, preparation and fuss to someone else. All you need to do is check out these establishments or go on line to locate which restaurants in your city are open for the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays. Enjoy and remember to eat responsibly.
