Best Power Rangers Fan Sites

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers premiered on August 28th 1993 and was an instant hit with children. It originally featured five teens, Jason, Trini, Zack, Kimberly and Billy, who were chosen by the great wizard Zordon and his robotic assistant Alpha 5 to become Power Rangers and defend the Earth from the Empress of Evil Rita Repulsa and her minions who were accidentally released from their space dumpster prison. They used their special weapons and gigantic robots called Zords to battle the monsters that Rita would send down to Earth to destroy them. The show would see many changes in terms of cast additions/replacements theme changes, Villain changes and tittle changes. It's newest edition which premiers in February 2007 will be called "Power Rangers Operation Overdrive" and will be the shows fifteenth season. The changes are due to the show being based off of a Japanese show called Super Sentai which changes themes, Rangers, Villains and titles every year. Power Rangers uses stock footage from the Sentai series the producers are adapting at the time on the show and therefore must change themes every year so as not to run out of stock footage. The show is not just popular with young children, but some older teens and adults who were fans of the original series have stuck with the show or have rejoined the shows' fanbase. The Power Rangers phenomenon has inspired many of it's fans to create fansites devoted to compiling all that is known about Power Rangers and providing fans with news about the show. Below are three fansites where you can go to learn almost everything there is to know about the Power Ranger Universe.

Power Rangers Online:
PRO is an excellent resource for fans of Power Rangers. It has a very up-to-date database of all of the incarnations of Power Rangers and even separate pages for each of the three Mighty Morphin seasons whereas most other sites lump them all together. So if you only want to know what the season two Zords were called or the names of the new villains introduced in season three or what the main story os for season one, you can go to each season's different page and not have to sort through information you don't want. They give very detailed descriptions of each ranger/zord/villain/ally so you won't leave this site without knowing most of the known details of your favorite characters. This site also has a 'Fun Center" with Fan Fiction and interviews, an excellent Episode Guide, an 'Alpha Center' which has a time line of events in Power Rangers, descriptions of the different places in the show, a dictionary of the terms used in Power Rangers and information on the different Power Rangers take-off shows, a look at the goings on behind the scenes of the show, a forum, chat and even their own yahoo group. This site definitely ranks high on my list.

Power Rangers Central:
This fan site is another excellent resource for information on the Power Rangers Universe. It has a great database of all of the seasons with excellent descriptions of each aspect of the show. Like PRO, they have a time line of events in Power Rangers and an episode guide. PRC also has a picture gallery, a toy guide that is divided by each season of the show which is then divided by the individual season's Spring and Fall releases' and a list of the top ten moments in Power Rangers history. They also have a "sister" site called Super Sentai Resource which has information on the Japanese series that inspires Power Rangers, so fans can read up on the original Power Rangers and see the differences and simillarities between the two versions. (Note: at the time this article is being written, some pages of Super Sentai Resource are down for major renovations but most are still up and running). Power Rangers Central is another winner in my book.

Nak's Power Rangers:
Nak's is a fan site that differs from the other two, not just in layout and style, which are different on almost every website out there, but in the way they direct you to the different sections, ex: PRO and PRC divide their databases by season and then by things like Rangers, Allies, Villains and Zords whereas Nak's divides it first by Rangers, Allies and Villains which are then divided by the seasons, though this makes no impact in the quality, it's simply one difference between the three sites. Like the other two sites Nak's has information on the Rangers and allies and an episode guide. These guides are very extensive and contain many pictures and will please any fan. However Nak's does not have a separate section for Zords, they are mentioned in their corresponding Ranger's pages, and Nak's only has information on the Villains from Mighty Morphin and the 2005 season "Power Rangers Mystic Force" but nothing in between which earns that section of the website an F minus from me. Even so, I do like the extensive amount of information they give on the Power Rangers and their allies. This site has definite room for improvement, but what it does offer fans is very informative.
