Best Programs to Keep You in Contact with Friends and Family

There are many programs out there that will help you keep in contact with friends and family. Some of the most common that allow you to keep in touch for free are MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, and Skype.

MSN Messenger gives the option to save your conversations. Along with that there are video, voice, and text while chatting capabilities. Video quality is rather poor and drops out frequently. While voice quality is crystal clear, texting while using video will slow down the computer.

Yahoo Messenger also gives the option to save your conversations. Of course there are also video, voice and texting while chatting capabilities. Web camera quality for Yahoo Messenger is decent, but still not the greatest. Voice chat quality is crappy; texting in the chat window will also slow down your computer.

Skype is a relatively new program that offers free PC to PC calling. Skype offers home and business calls for a small charge. They have really good video and voice chatting. Along with that they have the option to save your conversations. Texting while on the video or voice chat actually will not slow down your computer and offers other features such as taking snapshots while on video chat.

Out of these three programs, Skype has the best sound and video quality along with some cool added features. Next would be Yahoo Messenger because of the good video quality and lastly MSN Messenger with good sound quality.
