Scorching hot summer days are not the usual weather experienced in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, better known for its infamous rainy season. However, several weeks of high temperatures send residents fleeing to air conditioned malls, ocean side beaches, and, of course, public swimming pools. Check out these outstanding public pools in the area to beat the summer heat wave in Portland, Oregon, today!

Grant pool in the North East section of Portland, Oregon is just the place to go swimming with your family during the hot summer months. Grant swimming pool is 25 yards long and water depths ranging from 8 ft to 2 ft deep. It also boasts a sweet kiddie pool for the little tykes and has a swell children's slide. Water temps should be up to 84 degrees Fahrenheit, but the pool is outdoors so come on hot summer days and not the cloudy, colder days of early summer in the Pacific Northwest. Admission is $4 for adults and $2.5 for children ages 3-17, free for 2 and under (must have parent with them).

Pier pool is for swimming and is similar to Grant pool. Pier has a 25 yard swimming pool, water depths from 2 to 8 feet deep, and a cool kiddie pool. Also includes a children's slide, along with water heated to 84 degrees Fahrenheit, in this outdoor pool in Portland, Oregon.

Buckman is different from the other pools in that it is an indoor swimming pool, but is only 20 yards long. Water is heated to 85 degrees Fahrenheitand it does have lap swimming lanes. Admission rates are the same as that for Grant pool, both in Portland, Oregon. Buckman does offer male and female-only swimming times as well.

Columbia pool is also a swell indoor swimming pool. It has the standard 25 yard swimming pool, with lap swimming areas, and is heated (thankfully!) to a pleasant 86 degrees Fahrenheit. It has a fairly shallow section of only 1.5 ft, but then increases depth to 8 ft.
