These are the best R&B albums of 2008 and it's not too late to check them out.

2008 was a great year for R&B. It showed just how much love means to the art form through the raw feelings and emotions of exceptional artists willing to share their personal perspectives with the world. The following is a list of the best R&B albums of 2008.

1. Algebra Blessett "Purpose"- Algebra goes far beyond science and arithmetic in her debut album "Purpose". She expresses finding "At this time" in her life the special kind of love you desire to experience that not only meets but exceeds all expectations. "U Do it for me" takes the listener on a journey into how love makes you look, feel and do the exact things you never thought you would. "Run & Hide" questions if a love is real when your intuition tells you it's not. What more can I say the entire cd is one of my best R&B album purchases for 2008 for I have yet to take the cd off repeat. Thank you Algebra for sharing the extraordinary elements that define your "Purpose"

2. Mariah Carey "E=MC2"- Mariah's single "Touch my Body" is a flirty track that presents an option to touch a body but never to kiss and tell about the exciting escapades. "Love Story" explores the beginning of the tale of when boy meets girl and the after affects. "Bye Bye" explores when a special love is lost and how hard it is to forget and impossible it may seem to let it go. Mariah delivers a solid cd as well as an endearing voice to listen too.

3. Day 26 "Self Titled Debut"- Diddy definitely knows how to Make a Band despite all the drama that develops throughout the process. One of the musical projects developed from Making the Band Four Season Two is the boy band Day 26 this includes the members: Brian Andrews, Mike McCluney, Qwanell Mosley (aka Q), Robert Curry and Willie Taylor. The first single released "Exclusively" is a shout out to a special lady that has caught the attention of her male suitor to

the point where he no longer wants to play games and desires to seriously date only her. The rest of the album explores love tilted on its axis of passion to its discovering if two people truly "Are in this together?" when times are rough.

4. Jennifer Hudson- Jennifer Hudson is a rising star from her humble beginnings on American Idol to her unexpected Supporting Actress Oscar Win for "Dreamgirls." Her debut albums first single, "Spotlight" reveals the testimony of a woman wanting to posses her own light and not hide behind the possessive

nature of someone she is dating. "Giving Myself" shows the vulnerable side of a love willing to be free without restraint in sharing all that embodies a woman in love. From start to finish Jennifer Hudson reminds her listeners why they fell in love with her soulful and heartwarming rendition of "And I am telling you I'm not going"

5. Raheem DeVaughn "Love Behind the Melody"- The single "Woman" declares an affinity to the women of the world who work hard to take care of themselves and family. Raheem further explains the complexities that define the implicit details of what a woman does to be wonderfully beautiful and dynamic. "Customer" is an at your service anthem to the ladies and the gentlemen looking for a few pointers to understand women better. The album defines the "Love Behind the Melody" and the tools necessary to not only satisfy a love interest but to take a relationship beyond the places it's ever gone.

These are the best R&B albums of 2008 and it's not too late to check them out.

Great review. Raheem Devaughn is a great artist and very underrated.

I can't wait for the next season of "Making the Band" to start next Thursday. It looks like Q and Dawn are still together, but I want to know why Q and Will got into it. I did like their album, but I thought Jamie Foxx's and Anthony Hamilton's CDs were far better. I have yet to be a Mariah Carey or Jennifer Hudson fan. I think it's the runs. I can't handle it when someone drags out a syllable for 24 minutes.

I think Mariah's album was unfairly dismissed by many...like you, I think it was great. Very good list.

  • C-Love12/6/2008

Nice picks. I wasn't as impressed w/ Mariah's latest (The Emancipation of Mimi was better) but all good albums.

  • Monty Campbell12/1/2008

Interesting choices. I too don't keep up much with current music. I thank you for what you produced.

  • Kofi Bofah12/1/2008

Let's see what you got here. Mariah Carey was touched by her love for Nick Cannon.

  • Dr. Jamie Y. Marable12/1/2008
