Best R&B Songs of 2008

The soul searching, heart warming sounds that evoke emotions powerful and sometimes hard to describe. As I write this article, I reminisce on the sounds of Ray Charles and Sam Cooke. Unique styles of departed souls that speak to the style of music that we enjoy today. These masters helped to pave the way for young artists like Usher, Alicia Keys, NeYo, Jordin Sparks and many others.

History will tell you that artists such as Etta James, Sam Cooke, Smokey Robinson, Natalie Cole and many others were amongst the top R&B artists of their time. Back then, the best R&B music was created by black singers. Today, the industry's best R&B artists are a diverse group of young and old making hits and topping the charts.

Rihanna: Disturbia

Usher: Love in This Club
This R&B song was a hit in all the clubs. Usher's video features awesome dance scenes that are unique to his technique. He has established himself as a respected R&B artist who comes out with platinum quality records.

Alicia Keys: No One
When her album was released, it was selling out in stores. My favorite artist of today, Alicia Keys is unique in her song writing ability and musical talent. She has produced incredible R&B hits that include No One and Falling. Her most recent video was entitled 'Teenage Love Affair.'

Jordin Sparks: No Air
This duet featuring Chris Brown helped put this American Idol on the map to stardom. She is young and vibrant. Probably one of the younger R&B artists of today. We can look forward to hearing more hits from her.

NeYo: Closer
The ladies will agree that NeYo's newest hit is powerful. His talent reaches beyond just being a singer, he is also a writer and producer. Some of NeYo's greatest R&B songs include Sexy Love and So Sick. Update: Neyo came in Number 1 on the UK Billboard Charts. Congratulations Neyo!

Mariah Carey: Touch My Body
Her sexy albums are easy to sing along to, and the fact that she's married to Nick Cannon does not hurt either. Mariah Carey's latest hit Touch My Body is a chart topper. Expect to see it on the Billboard for the next few weeks.

Sexy Can I: Ray J
Ladies, you will agree that Ray J is hot like fire. Yes, he slept with Kim Kardashian but we'll keep him on top anyway. Click on his video to check out his new R&B single.

Addiction: Ryan Leslie f/ Cassie
This is a beautiful song nonetheless. This is one of the newest best 2008 R&B hits recently. Message is great.
