Best Reasons to Make Homemade Christmas Tree Ornaments

Hannah
You know not too many people think about making homemade Christmas tree ornaments anymore. I am here to tell you why your time and effort is more then worth it, when it comes to making homemade Christmas tree ornaments. Check out the best reasons why this Christmas you should be thinking homemade, when it comes to the Christmas ornaments on your tree.

A Great Family Project-

Too often these days families do not take the time to do special family activities together. This does not include going out for pizza and giving the kids enough tokens for video games that you don't have to see them until it's time to leave. Creating and doing special projects together help family members bond, and tend to help children open-up with what's going on their life. So, how about making some memories together as a family.

Unbreakable Christmas Ornaments-

When you have kids, it's hard to have breakable Christmas tree ornaments on the tree. Chances are at least some will get broken every year. So, why not make some homemade unbreakable Christmas tree ornaments this year. You can crochet, knit, use plastic canvas, or make wooden ornaments and paint them. None of these ornaments are going to break, it's safer for the kids and your pets. Some dogs and cats just can't leave those shiny glass Christmas tree ornaments alone. Why have to take a trip to the veterinarian, make unbreakable homemade Christmas tree ornaments this year.

Saving Money-

Unless you get the real cheap ornaments which probably won't make it through more than a few Christmases, you are going to pay for decent Christmas tree ornaments that will last. Well, most of us are not in the position to spend a lot of money on Christmas tree ornaments this year. Christmas tree ornaments are so small, that to make them whether it be by crocheting, knitting, plastic canvas, or wood, the cost is very minimal. You can even used leftover yarn, plastic canvas, and wood scraps to create your Christmas tree ornaments.

Custom Made To Your Personality-

The great part about homemade Christmas tree ornaments is you can create what you like, and make some very interesting Christmas tree ornaments. If you love skiing, then make a cute little set of skis for an ornament. If you love and collect angels, make a whole family of unique angel Christmas tree ornaments. The thing here is, you make what you like, and don't have to shop around to find something you want. You create it!

Hobbies are Healthy Outlets-

Hobbies are good for the soul, and your health. We are all way too busy these days, and hobbies give us a chance to unwind and focus on something we love to do. Too many people have given up on having hobbies, and I think we suffer for that. Sure, it's nice to watch a good movie and unwind, but that's not the same as the satisfaction of creating something beautiful, and that may hold a lot of memories for years to come. So, last but not least, unwind, relax, and create some beautiful Christmas tree ornaments, and precious memories that will last a lifetime!

Thank you for this article! I absolutely LOVE making my own Christmas ornaments! My own sweet daughter has much treasured memories of us making ornaments for Christmas and other decorations as well for various holidays. I also love making cute little outfits and dresses for my two year old Grand daughter! I love anything that is home made!!

I make my own with clear bulbs filled with potpourri and a ribbon tied around and give them to family. They're fun (and you can buy the bulbs in plastic) and super cheap since I buy the bulbs on clearance in Janurary for the next year.
