Best Rebate Programs Around

How to Make a Penny Squeal

Dawn Grubbs
I have told you about coupons and places to obtain coupons. Now I want to talk about ways to increase the value of those coupons. There are three retail stores that offer great rebates. The stores are Rite-Aid, Walgreens, and CVS. I am going to talk about each one individual and let you know the good and bad things about all rebates.

Rite-Aid is the first store I would like to talk about. This store has sales that run Sunday to Saturday every week. They also have a monthly rebate program. The program usually runs four weeks. You can pick up a rebate form in the store. The rebate will always start on a Sunday and always end on a Saturday. Most of the time these items that are on rebate for the month will be on sale during the rebate times. The other thing that you can do is register online at riteaid.com to participate in their rebate online. This means there is no purchasing of stamps. Once you enter your receipt online you will see in about 48 hours if your rebate has cleared. You can only send for a rebate check once during the rebate period. The next great things about this rebate is that the rebate is based on cost before coupons and tax. In other words you can buy say a shampoo for $2.99 and use a $1.00 coupon and still qualify for a $2.99 rebate. There are three Rite-Aid stores in the Baltimore area that are very coupon friendly. When doing any rebate you should always keep your store receipt as well as a record. With the Rite-Aid site your record is kept for you and you can pull up your account at anytime to see what you have purchased and what you are getting back. There is also a toll free number for the Rite-Aid, if you have any problems or questions. Using coupons could help you pay the tax on the items so that these items are really free in every sense of the word. Once you request your rebate check it only takes about ten days to get it. A very fast return.

Walgreens is next on my list of good rebate programs. This is a mail in monthly rebate as well as Rite-Aid the difference is that you must mail in the Walgreens. Walgreens is however, testing an online program in two states at this time. Their rebate also starts on a Sunday and Ends on a Saturday. The rebates usually run four weeks. The same as Rite-Aid they will be putting the rebate items on sale to make the deal a little sweeter. You do need to send your receipt in to the rebate house and it must be your original. Now if for some reason you run into problems you can go to the store you bought the stuff at and ask for a journal print out. Make sure if you do this that you put a note into the rebate explaining why you did this. The Walgreens rebate house is very nice. They also have a toll free number which you can call if you run into problems 1-888-324-3028. They not only put brand name items on rebate but also store brands as well. You can get a check for the full price back or you can opt for the Walgreens gift card which they will ad an extra ten percent added to your total. This is another rebate that is based on the cost of the item before coupons. When you return something to Walgreens they will mark through the item that you are returning and date it as well as sign it. Then when you send in for the rebate, you have to make sure they did not mark through or near the item you did not return, or the item you are asking for a rebate on. Walgreens rebates take about three to four weeks to get your refund back.

I saved the best rebate for last. CVS is the name of the store that offers the best rebate so far. Their rebate is called Extra Care Bucks. These are rebates on certain merchandise every week. You do not get cash back on this rebate. This form of rebate is like store credit. When you make a purchase and pay for the items at the end of your receipt you will get coupons that are for the amount of money you are supposed to get back. For instance, if they were offering Aqua fresh toothpaste for $2.99 and then you would get $2.99 back in extra care bucks. The other thing is if you use a coupon on this product you still get the full refund back in extra care bucks. At the bottom of your order, right under the total you paid you will find a line list showing the offer limits. For example if you buy one Aqua fresh toothpaste and there is a limit of five, you will see a number and there will not be a limit. If the limit is one you will also see limit reached. This rebate doesn't have to be mailed away. You simply get the credit at the end of your receipt. If you do not get the extra care bucks you simply called customer service, 1-888-607-4287 and they will fix the problem for you. I have never had a problem with this service. I did have problems with a store taking the extra care bucks but I called and the problem was handled right away. The extra care bucks are used like cash or in place of cash. You can buy anything in the store that you need with the extra care bucks. The only thing you can not buy is gift cards and the extra care bucks can not be used to cover the tax on your purchase. This means Uncle Sam gets his no matter what. The last point I want to make is that not only will you get your extra care bucks at the bottom of your receipt you will also get coupons that are good on a specific item. I also get emails regularly telling me about special sales. They also email me coupons that I take into the store to get extra savings like $4.00 off on a $20.00 purchase of any store items. There are also coupons that I get in the mail as well. You can combine your CVS coupons with your manufacturer coupons. This store just makes those pennies squeal and squeal.

There are other retailers that offer rebates as well but they are not as good. Staples offers rebates every now and then on their merchandise. They are usually pretty good about having the merchandise in stock as well. The rebate is put in online so there is no cost for a stamp. Staples also offers $3.00 off your next purchase if you return an old ink cartridge. The only thing about this is that it takes a full three to four months before you get the refund.

Office depot also offers rebates as well and they are few and far between. Office depot however, is not good at having the merchandise in stock. They also do not like giving out raincheck. This company also takes a full four months before you get your refund.

Weis markets also have an in store rebate. This is done online and you do not have to enter your reciept it is automatic. You go to their site sign up and your savings card is registered. Every time you use your savings card and a rebated item shows up the computer will put in on your account. They only send out checks at the end of the rebate cycle. You can not get it sooner. They usually payout in two to three weeks after the rebates end.

Pepboys, the auto parts store, is starting to get into rebates as well. They run a monthly rebate now. This is a mial in form. It is interesting because you can get money off on car labor that you are having done. This rebate does take a long time to get back to you though.

Rebates are catching on every where and people are looking for more ways to save money. The cost of everything is gotten way out of hand so people need to save where they can.
