Best Recipes for Pecan Pie

Jennifer Wagner

If you have a sweet tooth like me, you know how satisfying a fresh baked pecan pie can be. There are times when nothing will cure your craving for something sweet like a slice of homemade pecan pie. When the mood strikes, use any of the best pecan pie recipes found below. As someone that considers desserts to be the best food group, I've only listed the most delicious varieties.

Traditional Pecan Pie

Thanksgiving wouldn't be the same without a traditional pecan pie for dessert. This recipe will be one that you'll enjoy year after year. It's simple to make, and oh so delicious! (The secret is to chop the pecans into small pieces)

1 1/2 cup pecans (chopped)
1/3 cup light brown sugar (firmly packed)
1 ½ teaspoon all-purpose flour
1 ¼ cup light corn syrup
1 ¼ teaspoons pure vanilla extract
3 eggs
2 tablespoons melted butter
9 " pie crust

Combine all ingredients except butter and pecans. Stir in the melted butter and pecans and pour into a 9" pie crust. Bake at 375 for 40 - 50 minutes. If the crust starts to brown too quickly, use a pie crust to protector to prevent it from burning.

Peachy Pecan Pie

This pie tastes best with fresh peaches, but canned or frozen peaches can be substituted. This peachy pecan pie is especially yummy when served warm, topped with vanilla bean ice cream.

3 cups peaches (peeled and cubed)
¼ cup granulated sugar
3 tbsp all-purpose flour
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
½ cup light corn syrup
3 eggs (lightly beaten)
¼ cup melted butter
Dash of salt

Combine all ingredients except peaches. Lightly fold in peaches. Spoon into pie crust.

In a bowl, combine the following ingredients and then sprinkle over top of peach filling.

½ cup chopped pecans
¼ cup all-purpose flour
2 tbsp melted butter
¼ cup light brown sugar (firmly packed)

Bake at 400 for 35 - 45 minutes. Pie is done when center is set.

Chocolate Pecan Pie

This pecan pie recipe is ooey and gooey, and so delicious. You'll need a big glass of cold milk to wash it down though! The pecan pie recipe is very similar to a traditional pecan pie, but granulated sugar is used in place of brown sugar. The chocolate chips make it extra-sweet.

1 cup pecans (chopped)
1 cup light corn syrup
2/3 cup granulated sugar
3 eggs
½ teaspoon salt
1/3 cup melted butter
1 ½ cups semisweet chocolate chips
9" pie crust

Combine butter and sugar until smooth. Combine salt, eggs, and corn syrup. Stir in chocolate chips and pecans, and pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake at 375 for 40 - 50 minutes, or until pie is set.

Sweet Potato Pecan Pie

If you've never tasted sweet potato pie, let me assure you that it is delicious. It tastes very much like pumpkin pie, only not quite as thick. This sweet potato pecan pie is a delicious recipe that is very popular in the South. You'll find it at many dinner tables during the holidays. Start a new tradition in your home this year with this Southern dessert.

16 ounces canned yams (drained)
¼ cup softened butter
1 egg
14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon orange rind
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
½ teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon salt
9" pie crust

Beat together yams and butter until smooth. Add all other ingredients and pour into pie crust. Bake at 425 for twenty minutes and remove pie from oven. Reduce oven temperature to 350.

While the oven cools, combine the following ingredients in a small bowl:

1 egg (beaten)
2 tablespoons light brown sugar (firmly packed)
2 tablespoons corn syrup (dark)
1 tablespoon melted butter
1 cup pecans (chopped)

Combine all ingredients and sprinkle on top of pie. Bake another 25 minutes, or until pie is set.

Easy Pecan Pie

If you're in the mood for pecan pie, and don't have a lot of time to spend making one, use this easy pecan pie recipe. It has all the delicious ingredients in a more complex pecan pie, but it can be tossed together in about five minutes.

1 cup light corn syrup
3 eggs (slightly beaten)
1 cup white granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tbsp. melted butter
1 ½ cups pecan halves
9" pie shell

Combine the first five ingredients until well blended. Stir in the pecans and pour into pie shell. Bake at 350 for 50 - 55 minutes. If crust begins to overcook, use a pie curst protector to prevent burnt pie crusts.
