Find the Best Red Wine to Pair with Steak, Chicken & Chocolate Cake

Tamara McRill
Finding the best red wine for food pairing is a fairly new trend. Historically, red wine food pairing was a regional endeavor. The wine produced in an area was served with regionally grown or raised foods. Now we have the freedom to pair red wine with foods from all over the world.

There are few hard, fast rules red wine food pairings. One to keep in mind is that the lightness or heaviness of the red wine should be on par with the lightness or heaviness of the food. It is often more pleasing to the pallet to drink light to dark, the same way you would serve courses in a meal.

Best Red Wine Food Pairing Tips: Beaujolais
Beaujolais is named after a French region, south of Burgundy, who decided to plant the Gamay grape in 1395. This grape was forbidden to be planted in Burgundy and the regions continue this difference still. 98% of Beaujolais still plants Gamay grapes.

Beaujolais is a fruity, light and drinkable red wine. This light colored red wine pairs well with mild and nutty cheeses, such as swiss, brie and Munster. Another appetizer this red wine goes well with, is oysters. Main dishes to complement a Beaujolais are turkey and pasta with red sauce.

Best Red Wine Food Pairing Tips: Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir was planted by the Guals, before the Roman invasion. This grape was found in French vineyards by 150 BC. California, Oregan, New Zealand and Australia began to grow more of the grape in the 1990s.

Pinot Noir typically has an earthy vanilla and fruity jam flavoring. This red wine comes in a variety of shades. The best red wine food pairings include pasta with red sauce, light beef and pork dishes, local game and goose.

Ok, that double post is an Associated Content glitch, as well.

Yeah, until I read the comments I was going to say the same thing: Did I miss something here? Where's the article? Two months later Associated Content still hasn't restored the rest of the article. That's typical AC: Associated Content is a content mill first and everything else is second.
