Best Restaurants Near Florida Atlantic University's MacArthur Campus

Florida Atlantic University's MacArthur campus is located in beautiful Jupiter, Florida. Although it is much smaller than the main campus in Boca Raton, the MacArthur campus is centrally located. Just a few miles from the Atlantic Ocean, the campus is situated in trendy Abacoa--a development consisting of shops, bars, restaurants, and condos. In addition, across the street from the campus is Roger Dean Stadium where the St. Louis Cardinals and the Florida Marlins hold their Spring Training.

There are many good restaurants in the area that are worth mentioning. Some of them are a little pricey for a college student, but there are others that are better suited to our budgets.

Below is a list that I have compiled of the best restaurants near FAU's MacArthur campus:

JJ Muggs Stadium Grill

The Stadium Grill is a moderately priced bar and grill located within walking distance of the school. The menu offers pizzas, burgers, salads, and sandwiches, plus dinner entrees as well. There are also drink specials on a nightly basis. The food is pretty good and so is the service. There is also outside seating available.

Masa's Sagami

Masa's Sagami is a Japanese Steakhouse, complete with hibachi grills and chefs making volcanoes out of onion rings. This is definitely not a place where typically broke college students should be eating on a nightly basis, but it's worthwhile to check it out once in awhile. The food is great, but a little expensive. However, if you bypass the hibachi grill for the sushi bar, you can probably save yourself a couple of bucks and still have an enjoyable, but less entertaining meal. Masa's Sagami also offers a daily happy hour from 5-7 PM and karaoke several nights a week.

Sal's Italian Ristorante

Sal's is located in the Publix plaza at Abacoa. The restaurant offers great Italian food including pizza, pasta, salads, and seafood. The specialty pizzas are amazing and the garlic rolls are the best. Sal's is not too expensive, but it's not exactly low priced either.

CR Chicks

CR Chicks has a whole slew of restaurants in South Florida, and for the price, it's one of the best places around. There are several locations near FAU at 2582 PGA Blvd and 6689 West Indiantown Rd. These locations are not within walking distance, but only a few miles away. CR Chicks offers rotisserie chicken and delicious side dishes. My favorites are the horseradish mashed potatoes, cucumber salad, and the pasta salad. If you go to CR Chicks, you absolutely must try the Smokey. Get it with or without chicken. The bread is also worth mentioning--make sure you order at least a half loaf.

RA Sushi

This restaurant is located at Downtown at the Gardens about three miles from Abacoa. RA is my favorite restaurant in the area, and you have to try it at least once. The menu offers sushi and other Japanese dishes that are unbelievable. RA also has a great happy hour during the week with discounted appetizers and drinks.

Yard House

The Yard house is also located at Downtown at the Gardens. The restaurant originated in California and their menu is typical of healthy California cuisine. I enjoy the food because it is different and really fresh. They offer a great happy hour with half priced appetizers and two for one drinks, and they also have the largest selection of draft beers that I have ever seen.
