Best Romantic Comedies of 2011: Top 10 Chick Flick Movies Coming to Theaters This Year
10 Most Anticipated Romantic Comedy Movies in 2011
10. No Strings Attached - It's doubtful that this will be the best chick flick of the year, but it will be the first taste of romantic comedy that comes movie-goers ways in 2011. Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher star in this January 21st release where a couple decides that they need more than just a physical relationship.
9. What's Your Number? - Stop me when you are beginning to wonder why Anna Faris hasn't found true love yet. In this July 20th release, a woman steps back and examines the last twenty men she had relationships with and begins to wonder if one of them was her true love. Just an oddball thought, but couldn't Mr. Dreamy just as easily been part of the first twenty men she had relationships with or maybe the middle group of twenty?
8. From Prada to Nada - Every average American loves a riches-to-rags story. It's okay. Admit it. It doesn't mean you are happy people fell on their faces, but you are still super curious as to how it all fell apart. We are curious creatures. We can't help it. My only hesitation about this January 28th chick flick is that it doesn't really star anybody that will draw you in unless you were a big fan of "Spy Kids."
7. Friends With Benefits- Just the title alone should warn that there could be a not-so-great idea going on there. Wouldn't want to miss the train wreck that follows for Justin Timberlake and his co-star Mila Kunis. Just in case any of you feel a need to try this and decide it wasn't a good idea, maybe you should check out this article.
6. Take Me Home Tonight - Hi. Remember me, I'm Anna Faris. If you couldn't wait until July 20th to see me in a movie, why don't you stop by the movie theater to see my March 11th release? I'm starting to think this is a make-or-break year for this beautiful starlet that is in essence new to the role of leading lady in romantic comedy. Unless, of course, you count Observe and Report as a romantic comedy. Why is it I think half the people reading this just said, "What? "Observe and Report?" Never heard of it!"
5. Jack and Jill - What would a year of best romantic comedies be like without an appearance by an Adam Sandler movie? This is the first of two romantic comedies where Adam Sandler is featured. He lends his face to this one and he lends his voice to another top ten movie in this list. "Jack and Jill" is slated to hit the theatres on October 7th and has Katie Holmes starring in the female role. I'm guessing there might be some uphill treks and some water in here somewhere, but if not, at least we get to see how Al Pacino and basketball great Shaquille O'Neal fit into the picture.
4. The Zookeeper- Kevin James is a hilarious guy, maybe not as much of a looker as Bradley Cooper or one of those sorts, but he still should have no problem with the ladies, right? Now, if that woman is Rosario Dawson he might need a little help. That is where Adam Sandler, Sylvester Stallone and Cher come to the rescue. Well, at least their voices make an appearance as they will actually be in the form of zoo animals. I don't know about you, but Stallone is the first person I think of when I need help in the romance department. Can't wait until August 1st comes so I can see this romantic comedy!
3. Something Borrowed - I thought this would be one of those obvious things that would never need to be stated out loud, but somebody needs to tell Ginnifer Goodwin that the "something borrowed" is never supposed to be the groom. Want to see how happy Kate Hudson is about her soon-to-be groom being borrowed? Check out this romantic comedy coming to theaters on June 29th.
2. New Year's Eve - Personally, I thought "Valentine's Day" was a pretty decent movie. Not mind blowing amazing, but still worth a watch. "New Year's Eve" is like "Valentine's Day 2", just centered around a different holiday. This December 9th release will keep you waiting until nearly the end of the year, but the names in the film make one think it will be worth the wait. This big named cast includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Ashton Kutcher, Hilary Swank, Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert DeNiro.
1. Just Go With It - Just in time for Valentine's Day, Adam Sandler meets a friend. Sorry for all of you that are hoping for a certain about-to-be divorced brunette, but the friend I'm talking about is Jennifer Aniston. Of course, anybody that has watched an Adam Sandler movie could tell you that Jennifer is a little on the aged side for his usual type. That is why he is just using her and her kids to help him get in good with the much younger Brooklyn Decker. Before you go getting mad over it, do you really see any way possible that he doesn't end up with Jennifer at the end of the movie instead? Sandler has had past success during the Valentine Day's movie rush with "50 First Dates" and it looks like he is going to copy that success with this number one chick flick.
