Best Running Gear for Women

Where to Find and How Much

Trail running shoes for women are the most important part of trail running. Without the best trail running shoes on your feet you may sacomb to pain in your feet, legs, and upper body. Not just any type of running shoe will work, because each type of shoe is designed for specific types of running. When you plan to buy a pair of shoes, make sure you request the type of shoes for your activity.

The Brooks Casadia 4 is my number one choice for trail running shoes for women. Not only are they voted the "Editor's Choice award from Runner's World", but they are only about $100 a pair and you can also find them on sale for about $90 a pair at finishline.com. These shoes provide comfort and durability while on the trail. No matter what the terrain, these shoes keep your feet feeling secure, not only from sprains, but from rugged rocks or sharp objects you might run across. You can run the trails all day long, a few times a week or a few times a month, and your feet and legs will feel the same. The grip on these shoes are so awesome, you will feel like a spider woman.

Pairing up a gaiter with the Brooks Casadia 4 would definitely be your best bet. Especially when most trails have plenty of rocks, dirt and dust that somehow finds it's way inside your shoe. I have used the Monbell Stretch Gaiter previously and will never trail run with out it again. These gaiters are available in medium and large, and high and low cut. I preferred the lower version, since the main reason I chose it was to keep stuff out of my shoes. Average price for a Montbell Stretch Gaiter is $30, and a great price for something that gives you comfort, stretchability, and repels all that might try to creep into your sole. Find it online at www.Gearzone.com or at www.Montbell.us.

Montbell also carries a nice pair of stretch wind pants and jackets for those cold windy, rainy and snowy days on the trails. Pairing these together is an excellent choice, and goes great with the gaiter and Brooks Casadia 4 trail running shoes. From the neck down, you will be repelling all that mother nature sends at you, with comfort and stretch. As your body moves, so does this stretch ballistic fabric. This material is a little more light weight and is very durable for only $59 each. Now that's an awesome price considering other products on the market are a lot more expensive.

If you are looking for something on a hot summer afternoon or evening, Patagonia Women's Long Haul Runner Shorts are a must have. If you are worried about any chaffing problems, no need, these shorts provide a comfort appeal, very light, and are fast drying, if you happen to run into a rainy, wet spot. I have taken these on a long trail running trip, and they felt absolutely wonderful. It was definitely worth the $35 I paid for them on trailrunner.com. It was as if I was running without anything on at all. The material was so smooth, and flexible,. These shorts felt like they were apart of my skin.

There are many more highly qualified trail running gear products out there to buy. These are a few suggestions on some of the types of gear I have used myself or plan to buy in the future. The most expensive and most important item to buy for trail running is your shoes. Not only do they help you get through ruff terrain, it also provides your body with security. The rest of the gear keeps you from getting wet or uncomfortable.
