Best Scrapbooking Pens: Which Company Makes the Best

Robert Borden
When I was in high school, I really got into scrapbooking for the first time. The idea of taking my photos and combining them with rich written stories in heirloom-quality scrapbooks really appealed to me. When I first started scrapbooking, I didn't really care where my supplies came from. I would combine paper purchased at the local craft store with normal Crayola markers to make some great looking scrapbook pages. Then one day, I had a glass of water and a drop of condensation hit the page I had just journaled on. The ink immediately smeared and became unreadable. I knew that if I was going to have a scrapbook that lasted forever, I was going to need to find archival quality pens that wouldn't be affected by slight moisture.

So I began buying up scrapbook pens like crazy. I purchased pens at the craft store, at specialty scrapbooking store, and even from independent sales consultants. After trying out all the different pens for about a month, there was one brand in particular I really fell in love with: Creative Memories. The Creative Memories Scrapbooking Pens felt like they were high quality from the start. The pens from Creative Memories felt heavier than many of the pens I had bought at the craft store, and the fine tip pens had quality metal toppers to keep the tip sharp. Pens for scrapbooking are available from Creative Memories in both fine-tip and bold-tip versions. The fine tip pens are great for journaling stories on your scrapbook pages, while the bold-tip pens are excellent for photo captions and title blocks.

The best thing about the Creative Memories pens are that they don't bleed when exposed to moisture, and they won't fade with age or light exposure. The archival quality of the Creative Memories pens really does set them apart from other scrapbooking pens available on the market today. I found that the Creative Memories pens were reasonably priced, available in 4-packs of coordinating colors for $8.99. Creative Memories pens are only available from their independent sales consultants, however most people know someone that sells Creative Memories. If not, you can find a consultant and order over the internet and have Creative Memories ship the pens directly to you. Creative Memories pens are also frequently sold on eBay, and many people have been able to find pens substantially cheaper than retail prices by searching there. If you are just getting into scrapbooking, I would highly recommend that you save yourself some heartache and use Creative Memories pens from the start. Creative Memories really does make the best scrapbooking pens on the market, and years from now you'll be grateful that you used the best possible materials to preserve your family history.
