Best Seats at Progressive Field

The Cleveland Indians are having a spectacular preseason, and excitement is building that the Tribe just might be a contender this year. The 2010 season starts on April 5 in Chicago against the White Sox, with the home opener on April 12 against Texas. If you're planning on purchasing tickets to Progressive Field, here's a look at the best seats for game viewing.

Bleachers. The bleacher seats at Progressive Field are not the cheapest, but they're arguably the friendliest seats in the ballpark. This is where you'll find the true baseball fans, not just businessmen on a company outing. These seats also have access to their own concession stands and restrooms, so there's little time wasted standing in line. The downside to the bleachers is that you can't see the scoreboard (since you're sitting beneath it). True fans know to look at the running signs between the lower boxes and the mezzanine level. Bleacher seats for 2010 cost $16 to $20, depending on the game.

Club seats. Located above the lower box seats on the right field line, the club seats at Progressive Field are special because they offer food and beverage service at your seats. No standing in line at the concessions; a server will bring the food to you. The menu features more than just the standard hot dog and peanuts fare; there are sandwiches, pizza and a variety of snack items.

Club seat ticket holders also have access to the air-conditioned Club Lounge. This facility has flat-screen television sets all around the room and offers food and beverage service. It's great for a break during those hot, steamy summer days. Individual club seat tickets cost $100.

Cheap seats. The least expensive seats in the house are the upper-outfield reserve seats, located on the top half of the upper deck in extreme left and right field. Bring binoculars to these seats because home plate will look like just a speck without them. However, you still get to savor the excitement of being at the game, and the price is right. Upper outfield reserve seats cost $7 to $9, depending on the game.

Terrace Club. Granted, you can barely see home plate from most of the tables, but every Indians fan should experience Progressive Field's Terrace Club at least once just for its uniqueness. Located in the extreme left field corner, the Terrace Club is a full-service, multi-level restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows so diners can view the action on the field while they eat. Night games offer two seatings: pre-game and during the game. For daytime games, there is just one seating.

To gain access to the Terrace Club, you either need to be a member (membership packages start at $500) or be a guest of a member. Dress at the Terrace Club is upscale casual.

Cleveland Indians tickets are available in person at the Progressive Field ticket office, at the six Indians team shops around Northeast Ohio, by calling 216-420-4487, and online at Indians.com. Note: It's best to plan ahead. The Indians charge a $1 to $5 surcharge for tickets purchased on game day.
