One of the things that you should consider when caring for sensitive skin is the amount of exposure you get from the sun. Excessive exposure to sunlight can damage sensitive skin. Sensitive skin will dry out, become sun burned and blotchy if it is exposed to too much sunlight. So always wear sun block to protect sensitive skin from dangerous sun rays.
To protect and care for sensitive skin effectively you should only use skin care products targeted to people with sensitive skin. Skin care products that are labeled 'sensitive skin' use hypoallergenic or noncomedogenic ingredients that do not irritate sensitive skin so they are great products to use if your skin cannot tolerate the normal chemicals used in skin care products. Also, within the range of sensitive skin care products, you should choose the ones with minimal preservatives, additives and colorings.
Another thing you can do to care for sensitive skin is to keep away from dust and other pollutants. Especially if your sensitive skin is as a result of a skin condition such as eczema or psoriasis, you should try to keep the skin clean and away from dirt and germs that can irritate your sensitive skin.
Also remember to use soap-free and alcohol-free cleansers, toners and skin care products when caring for sensitive skin. Skin care products that have alcohol and soap in them tend to irritate sensitive skin, causing it to dry out and break out in bumps and even in sores. So you should try to buy soap and alcohol free products to use on your sensitive skin.
Keeping makeup on for too long can irritate sensitive sin. No one should sleep with makeup on, but people who have sensitive skin should never sleep with makeup on. Also, if you have sensitive skin you should buy makeup for people with sensitive skin and use hypoallergenic makeup removers. These products work wonders for sensitive skin and keep it looking fresh and healthy.
When you have sensitive skin you should try not to exfoliate too vigorously. Even if you are using an exfoliant for sensitive skin that has minimal preservatives, additives and colorings, if you are scrubbing too hard you can still irritate the skin. Over exfoliating sensitive skin can leave it looking red and inflamed so avoid doing this.
To care for sensitive skin just remember to be careful with activities such as washing and cleaning as harsh chemicals from household products can damage sensitive skin. Also, remember to buy skin care products for sensitive skin and take all the necessary precautions to make your sensitive skin look its best.
