This also applies to the other hot red shades for 2010 such as tomato red, cherry chocolate, and even highlights. Which type of shampoo should you use?
A depositing shampoo is your number one best friend. Please stay away from any shampoo that has a high PH level, says clarifying, or is medicated.
ArTec Mahogany Color Depositing
Ok, for some people the price of this might scare you away. However, if you are looking for a shampoo to keep red alive plus add moisture to your hair then this is the route to go. For under $20.00, you get to replenish the vibrance, and get your PH level back to normal. The smell is very nice and it will not drowned you out with a nasty scent. It makes deep red, light red, copper, reddish brown, light brown, medium brown, dark brown, violet red, and auburn hair color fresh and new every time you use it. Two other options are Cherry Bark, and Red Clover.
Dove Damage Therapy Color Repair Shampoo
For around $6.00 a bottle, this product can work wonders. Just because it says Damage Therapy on it, don't think you can't use if your hair is healthy. It will give you loads of shine, add moisture, will NOT strip the red color out or weight your down. Most Dove products for color treated hair usually make the hair run. However, this one is wonderful for red, and the water will NOT be blood red. Dove will help lock the color in.
Giovanni Colorflage Shampoo
This cocktail of a shampoo delivers great protection of the red copper color, from the sun and wind. It also gives the hair shine, moisture, and restores any damage. For under $10.00 you can buy a 8.5 ounce bottle. You will not be disappointed with this. To apply make sure your hair is throughly wet. Then add the shampoo. The bottle says to leave it on for 2 minutes, but I'm telling you to leave it on for 10 minutes. Then rinse out in cold water. DO NOT use hot water.
Other shampoos for red copper hair some might consider are Tresemme Color Thrive, Pantene Pro-V, Herbal Essences, John Frieda Radiant Red, or Clairol Shimmer for Brunette and Red. All of these don't work well at all. Don't let them fool you. If you have extra money, you can also go with Bumble and Bumble True Red Shampoo for $ 20-$25. I must admit, even though it's not on my mentioned above list, it really does rock.
