Every girl enjoys a good story where the girl is rescued by a handsome "prince-like" figure. "Wild Ones" is all about that. An orphan girl is taken in by her grandpa and is assigned a handsome "caretaker" to protect her. She soon finds out that her grandpa and the rest of the guys that live with him, including her caretaker are all hooligans! Yet, despite their bad instincts, they are extremely loyal to her. She begins to have feelings for her caretaker, but can he return the same affections? And what secrets does he seem to be hiding about his past? Will love conquer all? This is a great read for those that enjoy a good classic "damsel in distress" plot filled with romantic twists.
Kimi Ni Todoke by Karuho Shiina
A coming of age story, this manga series is deep and emotionally accurate of reflecting the young adolescent years and way of thinking. The plot centers on a young, reclusive girl who is mistakenly scorned for her physical attributes. Assumptions have been long made about her and she has accepted it as her fate. Along comes a well-liked popular boy who eventually breaks her shell and helps her surrounding peers to see her true self. Distinct artwork and detailed story lines make this a work of art that truly stands out on its own.
MeriPuri by Matsuri Hino
Matsuri Hino is quite famous for her other manga works such as "Vampire Knight" and "Wanted", and this work does not fail to impress either. This four part manga series details the life of a young girl who finds herself thrown into a world from another dimension that she supposedly is a part of. She finds herself entangled in the life of a prince, one who is placed under a curse of a bitter rival. This curse on this young prince turns him into a little boy if he stays in a dark setting for a long period of time. Somehow the heroine of the story is the key to his freedom, but will she heed to her destiny or will she let her former present-day life get in the way? This is a definite must-read for those who enjoy a light-hearted, fantasy romance with a good ending.
Beast Master by Kyousuke Motomi
Kyousuke Motomi's famous work "Dengeki Daisy" is followed with the debut of this short manga (only 2 volumes), yet the story plot will still spark interest, especially those who are favorites of the vampire and animalistic literary works genre. Although not as dark, this short series tells of a girl a d boy she encounters that has animal-like characteristics that serve as both positive and negative attributes. The boy, however, seems subject to her will and love. Can she overcome him and help him be free or will he remain like that forever? Find out if love wins in the end in this mini-manga series.
