Best Shows for the 2009 Fall Season

CBS Edition

CBS will spend the upcoming fall season doing a lot of what it does best, playing episodes of CSI: (insert any city name). But if you have gotten a bit bored of the CSI series, CBS does have a number of shows that are sure to entertain. For a full list of shows check out cbs.com

How I Met Your Mother (Mondays at 8 pm): How I Met Your Mother heads into its 5th season and fans are hoping we may finally figure out who the "mother" is. However, creator Craig Thomas promises a bit longer of a wait. For those who don't know, How I Met Your Mother is the story of a man, Ted, meeting his future wife. The story is told in the form of a flashback, as an older Ted tells his kids How he met their mother (hence the name).

NCIS: Los Angeles (Tuesday at 9pm): I have to admit as much as I have gotten tired of all the CSI spin-offs, I have high hopes for this NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative service) spin-off that debuts this fall. CBS promises that it will be a "a drama about the high stakes world of undercover surveillance at the Office of Special Projects (OSP), a division of NCIS" and I have to admit that gets me a bit excited. I mean, who doesn't like undercover spy gear and high tech gadgets? Although, I have to admit an NCIS without Gibbs and Abby might not be worth watching.

The Good Wife (Tuesdays at 10pm): Another new drama packed show with a lot of potential. The Good Wife is about a women who must take control of her family after "her husband's very public sex and political corruption scandal lands him in jail." The allure of a scandal plus that fact that the "good wife" will take on a job as a lawyer (who doesn't love a good legal drama) makes me think CBS might have a winner on its hands.

Criminal Minds (Wednesdays at 9pm): This analytical crime drama about the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit is heading into its 5th season. Instead of being just another crime drama, it really stands out because of its deep analysis of the actual criminal, rather than focusing on a specific crime. And, hey, it had 13.79 million viewers for its season finale, so it has to be good, right?
