Shure Microphones are some of the most reliable mics when it comes to all audio needs. They specialize in different kinds of mics such as instrument and vocal mics. Easy to use and easy to connect, these mics are built to perfection for the basic beginner to the most highly skilled.

Shure C606N Vocal Microphone: This microphone is mostly used for audio broadcasting and karaoke but can be transferred to record basic vocals in your home studio. It features a wide frequency range so the vocals will come out somewhat clear, not crystal clear, but understandable. The only slight problem for this mic is that is easy to create feedback. Know that the handling noise (when you move the mic around) can be "wishy washy", but it's to be expected for the price. Price Range $20-25

Shure PG48 Vocal Microphone: This Shure mic comes with an on/off switch and has reliable and diligent performance for the price it costs. The rugged cardioid mic pattern gets rid of most noise and cuts down a lot on the feedback. The built in pop filter also makes it perfect for standing close talking into the mic and still being understood. It can still be used with a wind guard, but most people are satisfied using it right out the box. I recommend this mic for anyone that enjoys broadcasting or recording basic vocals. Price Range $35-42

Shure SM48 Vocal Microphone: At an almost unbelievable low price, the Shure SM48 offers premium recording capabilities for your pro recording set up (Cubase, Logic, Sonar). It also excels at broadcast recordings for pod casting and audio shows alike. The easy to handle steel mesh grill has an intergraded pop filter to make vocal recording crystal clear. The excellent frequency response quickly adapts to the vocals as you say them. All of the features this mic offer are more than great for the price. Price Range $49-55

Shure SM37 Instrument/Vocal Microphone: The Shure SM37 is an instrument/vocal mic and has a reliable and natural sound when recording. The mic has an extra terrific design that enables it to endure lots of wear n tear. It's great for any kind of abuse such as falls or even water. While it's great for recording and mastering vocals, it excels at recording drums and other live instruments. Take care when using this mic while recording instruments because it's very, very sensitive and can pick up the slightest wrong sound. Just as a general rule, turn this mic down a tad compared to the other ones. Price Range $87-99

I use an SM57 for recording trumpet and cello, and it makes a good vocal mic too. Thanks for the article!

Wow! I didn't know Shure made anything that cheap! I have always used SM-57's myself (list around $140.00 here in K-town, but they are freakin' BULLET-PROOF!)
