Kings Of Leon - There is something magical about their music. I totally adore "Use Somebody", "Sex On Fire", and "Only by The Night." Some of their music has an 80's super guitar feel about it, which I love! Kings of Leon is the best new band worth discovering. Though they released their third album "Because Of The Times" in 2007 I had never heard of their music until 2008. That is why they make this list, even though they aren't exactly new, they are new to me. Entertainment Weekly called their third album their "crowning achievement." Kings of Leon are sure to be a hot, hot sensation all across the world.
One Republic - Who hasn't heard OneRepublic's song "Apologize" the lyrics claim "I need you like a heart needs a beat, it's nothing new". This is perhaps the most beautiful bittersweet song that I have ever heard, not counting Pearl Jam's Black song, which is my forever favorite song. OneRepublic's album "Dreaming Out Loud" was released in 2007. The album is chalked full of lyrical goodies like "Stop And Stare", "Say (All I Need) and the ever great "Apologize." I also love the Timbaland remixed version of "Apologize.", that has been Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 for ten-consecutive weeks, going all the way to Number 1 on the Pop 100. They have also sold over 8 million legal downloads-the most singles ever sold in the digital era. Find out more about OneRepublic at their official website www.onerepublic.net . Their album "Dreaming Out Loud" can be found in stores now. They are exceptionally talented and their lyrics are deep and affluent. Don't forget to check out their MySpace to hear their songs (mentioned above) and don't forget to listen to their song "Come Home" with Sara Bareilles.
Katy Perry - You can find her official website at www.katyperry.com or her MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/katyperry . Unlike most singers she also gives out a phone number, that is revealed on her MySpace, where you can reach her. Her songs "I Kissed A Girl" and "Hot N Cold" off of her 2008 album "One Of The Boys" made her the biggest new sensation. The energy and unusualness she gives is sure to give her a long standing career in the music business. Her bubbly high-energy girl-talk songs and attitude are both fun and light-hearted I think that is what makes her music stand-out. And it's also what will keep fans coming back! Don't miss out!
Thousand Foot Krutch - I recently discovered this band late one night while watching JCTV, which usually I do not watch, but soon this discovery I did start watching it, all because of this extraordinary band. My favorite songs by Thousand Foot Krutch are "This Is A Call", and the super hard-rock songs " Move" and "Rawkfist." I am amazed by a band that is Christian ( I am ASSUMING that they are Christian due to them being played on JCTV, I could be wrong), but who can rock it just as hard as Metallica. That is what you get when you hear Thousand Foot Krutch's song "Move." This is a powerhouse of talent and they are sure to be the next big thing. I can't wait to heat more from them. You can find the bands official site MySpace with some of their music at MySpace. You don't want to miss out on Thousand Foot Krutch. Go to http://www.thousandfootkrutch.com/ to sign up for email updates. The band members consist of Trevor McNevan on vocals, Joel Bruyere on bass, Steve Augustine on drums. The Toronto, Canada natives have sold more than 450,000 copies to date of their album "Set It Off", "Phenomenon", and "The Art Of Breaking". The badn broke out with their 2003 Phenomenon album that landed them an impressive five songs on rock radio and a step into mainstream with "Rawkfist". This is my newest musical discovery!
Leona Lewis - Her debut album "Spirit" entered the album chart at number one and became Britain's fastest-selling debut of all time. "Spirit" lead single "Bleeding Love" captured the world, and was co-written and produced by OneRepublic's frontman Ryan "Alias" Tedder. This song claimed the Number One spot for seven weeks, and the album sold over 1 million copies in the UK in only 5 weeks. I love her song "Better In Time" off of the "Spirit" album, the song is truly beautiful. In the lyrics to "Better In Time" she claims she is "gonna smile cause she deserves to". You just have to love the lyrics and her beautiful Mariah Careyesque voice. You can find more about her at her Official websites http://www.leonalewismusic.com or www.myspace.com/leonalewis .
Heidi Newfield - I am most amazed by her song "Johnny and June". Lyrically she wishes throughout the song to have a love like Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. This song puts a beautiful light on her voice and showcases her immense talent. And you just gotta love a singer that wants to "walk the line, to the end of time" like Johnny and June. She is an amazing singer and sure to not be forgotten anytime soon.
Ashley McWalter - I heard her music on MySpace and have to admit that this is one talented 19-year-old. Her voice is like an angel, and sort of Sarah McLachlan meets Carrie Underwood meets Martina McBride. My favorite Ashley McWalter songs include "Coming Back To You", "Forever Blue", "Last Goodbye", and her beautiful cover of Sarah McLachlan's song "Angel". You can check her tunes out at http://www.myspace.com/ashleymcwalter . This is the next big star that you may not have heard of yet. Her MySpace labels her as currently unsigned, but with her soulful voice I'm thinking it won't be much longer before this huge voice gets a deal. Over 28,611 people have already discovered her through MySpace, and this is without a record deal. I can only imagine how many fans she would have if she were already a signed artist. I am predicting this girl to be a huge, huge star, and soon! Once you hear her voice you will not forget it. Plus you have to love her song "Forever Blue" that sounds reminiscent of Joe Cocker's "You Can Leave Your Hat On". This girl is going places no doubt!
