Best New Sitcoms for Families this Spring 2009

Michelle M. Guilbeau
Families are always looking for good sitcoms to watch and this Spring 2009 will hopefully be a good season for the brand new shows. There is always an anticipation as to how the shows will fair with viewer ratings but the new sitcoms look like they will be survivors this season.

In The Motherhood

ABC-Premiers Thursday, March 26/7 pm Central Time

This new comedy will include the characters, Rosemary (Megan Mullally), Jane (Cheryl Hines) and Emily (Jessica St. Clair) as their role of Mother. The sitcom will focus on the role of Motherhood, work and love life while trying to manage all the areas efficiently and staying sane in a world that can be complicated and busy. The really interesting concept of this show is that the TV show stories will be inspired by real life stories of the viewers that post on the website.

Glee

Fox-Premieres Spring 2009

The musical comedy series will have 13 episodes and the storyline is based on a high school musical teacher who is trying get the Glee Club to make a turn around and get the less than motivated performers to make it to the top competition which is Nationals. The TV series will feature a list of popular and well known songs from the past and also the present.

Gary Unmarried

CBS-Wednesday/8:30 pm Eastern Time

Although this is not a brand new sitcom, there will be new episodes aired, in November, 22 episodes were picked up by CBS.

Gary and his ex-wife, Allison are divorced for 3 months and although Gary bought a place of his own after the divorce, Allison is regularly in the picture due to their two teenage children. Gary and Allison seem to always be at each other but at the end of it all, they always make up and there is the feeling that the two still care very much about each other. The antics that go on with each other and the children are very funny.

The New Adventures of Old Christine

CBS-Wednesday/8 pm Eastern Time

This sitcom is in its 4th season and the season premiered in September, the TV show will consist of 22 new episodes which will be airing through the Spring.

Christine is a divorced Mom who lives with her son Ritchie and her brother Matthew. Christine's ex-husband Richard who is Ritchie's father is around quite a bit in Christine's life but Richard has a girlfriend also named Christine. Hence the reason the divorced Christine is called "Old Christine".

This sitcom family is so funny to me because of all the absurd dynamics between the characters. Old Christine can be self-absorbed and obsessive at times, she has bad luck with relationships and even married her best friend Barb when Barb was possibly going to be deported. Each character seems to have their personal issues

Wipeout

ABC-Premiers Sunday, February 1-during halftime and after the big game

Although this show is more of a reality based program, the reviews so far are saying this family show is going to be a lot of fun to watch, lets hope it is true.

This funny reality television show will feature 24 contestants of all ages and sizes competing in the world's largest obstacle course. Each week there will be 24 new contestants and the grand prize will be 50,000 dollars.

The new sitcoms will hopefully prove to be funny and well worth watching, the Spring TV season is just around the corner and anxiety we will await for a good family laugh!

I don't think I've caught any of these yet. I'll have to look for them.
