We've checked them out and made our picks. It's official; these are our best new sitcoms for families spring 2009. You may have thought that sitcoms were gone. Nope! Just pretty well hidden amongst all the other offerings in TV land. Here are our five favs. We picked them because they are great sitcoms and safe for the whole family.

True Jackson VP

Don't let the fact that it is from Nickelodeon scare you. Actually, Nick is really good at knowing what kids like at the same time entertaining parents that have to watch too. Case in point, True Jackson VP. True is a fifteen year old (played by Keke Palmer) who has been granted a glamorous job at a major fashion company. It may seem ridiculous but it works. True Jackson is entertaining and fun. You may recognize Keke from her hit show Akeelah and the Bee. Although it launched this winter, we are excited about the new spring shows coming up for this wonderful sitcom.

In the Motherhood

We can't say enough about this show! We loved it as a web series and we are so seriously excited about the upcoming release for television. This will definitely be one of the best new sitcoms for families spring 2009. This show features three moms who meet motherhood in different and sometimes dysfunctional ways. Your kids will appreciate their parents after watching these moms and their crazy antics. Watch In The Motherhood starring Megan Mullally on March 26 on ABC.

The Goode Family

If you like animation, you'll like The Goode Family. ABC brings this politically and 'green' family to life this spring. Created by Mike Judge, the guy who brought you King of the Hill, the Goodes are a different family. They look like they are caught up in a hippy time warp and promise to deliver laughs. Although, maybe not right for smaller children, The Goode Family pokes fun at life today and is good for a laugh. It's full of jokes about life in a politically correct world a family's struggle to do the right thing. In a light and humorous way, of course.

Zip

This promising sitcom brings back one of our favorite stars, Steven Weber. You may remember him in the popular show, Wings. Weber is taking on a new roll as Trip Stringer the star of this show, Zip. Trip is a single dad with two little boys. They life in California and enjoy a great life. On no money! This show is all about a dad who loves his kids and is prepared to go to great lengths to make a living for them. Even if it means doing some unusual jobs for weird clients. This ABC show looks great and funny. Probably one of the best family sitcoms on spring television.

The Unusuals

ABC took some risks this year with their mid year releases. They have a lot of great sitcoms. This one is no different. The Unusuals features life in a homicide unit without the scary drama. There are lot of hi jinks that go on, believe it or not. And this show is full of tongue in cheek humor and gags that kids will love. Not scary or squeamish, the Unusuals rounds out our best sitcoms for families spring 2009
