Best Sites to Find Easter Poems

Jennifer Claerr
Easter-themed poems come in handy for making handmade cards, e-cards, building a blog or website and for writing letters for the holiday. It takes some effort to find the best poetry for the Easter season, but it is out there. Some of the best sites for Easter poetry host works by both contemporary and historical poets. Many of these poems are in the public domain, and are free for you to use as you please. Make sure to check the website's copyright notice before using a poem for any public work.

Poets.org

Poets.org is an excellent site to find poems by famous poets. This award-winning poetry website, run by the Academy of American Poets, has well-organized categories and is searchable by keyword. You can find Easter poems on this site by browsing its poems by occasion page and clicking the Parenting, Sons, Daughters, Childhood, Spring, Nature, Flowers, Gardens, Birds and Animals categories. You can also click Advanced Search to search any poetry movement, theme or form on a keyword such as Easter or by the name of a specific poet.

The Poetry Foundation

The Poetry Foundation, publisher of Poetry Magazine, is another site where you can find the best poetry. This website has a small category for Easter poems. You can also find poems appropriate for Easter by browsing the site's sub-categories, such as Spring, Landscapes and Pastorals, Weather, Trees and Flowers, Wildlife, in the Nature category and Youth and Childhood in the Cycle of Life category. You can search the site by keyword to find poems on any subject. After you search by keyword, click Poems, Poets or Poetry Magazine to refine your search.

The Poetry Archive

The Poetry Archive is an archive of audio files of poets reading their own work. There are also historic readings of poetry from the past. The site also contains the text version of the poetry. The easiest way to find Easter poetry is to browse the site's poetry themes. While there isn't an Easter theme, you can find poetry for the occasion by browsing themes such as Art, Beauty, Birds, Childhood, Children, Flowers, Gardens, Happiness, Holiday, Nature and Religion. You can also search The Poetry Archive site by keyword.

Bartleby.com

Bartleby.com is an online resource with thousands of poems in its archive. This site is one of the best places to find poetry by famous, historical authors. There are several poetry anthologies on the site. While there is no Easter category or other spring themed category, you can browse the site by volume or by author. The site is also searchable by keyword. To find poems, select All Verse or the name of a poet from the drop-down list by Search. Then type your keyword and click Go.
