I have certain criteria that my music to travel by must have in order to be taken on the road with me.
1. It must be relatively fast; though not too fast, as I don't want to end up with a speeding ticket.
2. It must be upbeat. By this I mean, it must keep my mood high. It is hard to battle traffic hour after hour, and listening to the right soundrack of music to travel by can keep the mood high enough so the the traffic just doesn't matter.
3. My husband and I have a rule that works well for us; the one doing the driving, gets to choose the soundtrack of music to travel by, of their choice.
Here is a list of songs that I use to travel by. None of the songs is more favorite that the others. I like them all.
1. Bad To The Bone - performed by George Thorogood and the Destroyers. Though this is not a very fast song, it is upbeat, and it brings a smile to my face almost everytime I hear it.
2. Magic Carpet Ride - performed by Steppenwolf. When I hear this song it brings back wonderful memories; though it does keep me on track and focused on my driving.
3. Under My Wheels - performed by Alice Cooper. This song is really great when driving through many miles of no scenery.
4. Locomotive Breath - performed by Jethro Tull. As the miles fly by, and the minutes become hours; this song helps me to keep chugging away behind the wheel.
5. Midnight Rider - performed by Greg Allman. This song helps to make hours on the road, pleasant.
6. Against The Wind - performed by Bob Seger. This song helps me to stay relaxed; yet alert.
7. Ballad Of Easy Rider - performed by The Byrds. Not only does this song bring back wonderful memories; it tends to make me start checking out all the other vehicles on the road.
8. Highway Lady - performed by UFO; and
9. Sign Of The Gypsy Queen - performed by April Wine helps me to realize that I am a great woman driver.
10. On The Road Again - This song is performed by many singers, but my favorite performer of this song is Canned Heat. Usually when this song comes up, I play it over and over again. It is amazing the number of miles that fly by when listening to this song.
This list is just a few of my favorite songs that I absolutely must take with me while on a road trip.
