Best Sources for Comic Book Info on the Web

Best Sites for Keeping Up to Date on Comic News, Tracking Your Collection, and Buying Comics

Journalist M
It can be difficult for serious comic book fans, occasional readers, or new entrants to the medium to keep up with the world of comics. Conventions are becoming more popular, while comic culture continues to invade other sectors like movies and television. As a collector it can also be difficult to stay on top of values and new variants among other things. In an attempt to throw some light on the shadows laid out for comic fans I've provided some excellent resources on the internet for all your comic book needs.

Comic Book Resources
www.comicbookresources.com

As the name suggests, this site provides ample resources for comic book fans. Commonly referred to as "CBR" this long-running site is a constant go to for die-hard fans. Here you will find everything from news, reviews, and previews to video interviews, comic urban legends debunked, and a host of columns. CBR manages to cover all things as well, from small indies to blockbuster films, this is a fantastic source to keep you update on the world of comics. The site also features an extensive message board for those interested in chatting about the world of comics.

IGN
comics.ign.com

While IGN may be best known as the leading video game blog on the web, their comics coverage is also rather impressive. Plenty of news stories and previews abound here, but IGN also offers a special focus on movies and toys. The coverage may not be as extensive as CBR (the diversity and number of columns can't compare for one) but IGN's site is extremely user-friendly and chock-full of goodies.

Comic Collector Live
www.comiccollectorlive.com

Comic Collector Live is a much different site than the first two mentioned. This site is set up with the collector in mind. Here you will find a number of comic sellers (often many with fantastic deals). Because they are all in one place it makes searching for those rare treasures much easier than eBay. Also, Comic Collector Live has free software for organizing your collection. This easy interface will have you collection at your fingertips in no time and help show where your gaps are and whether anyone on the site can fill them.

Comics Price Guide
www.comicspriceguide.com

Like Comic Collector Live, this site is for the collectors. If you are interested in how much any of your books are worth you can check here. The site also provides info on grading and offers values for regular and CGC graded comics. There is also plenty for sale here, if you are looking for a new shopping source. The site is easy to use and packed with a ton of comics, plus it's totally free making it easier on your wallet than some large price guide.

Comic Shop Locator
www.comicshoplocator.com

While this site is fairly simple, it is also very helpful. If you are out of town or just looking for a new store to browse this site will give you info on tons of stores in your area simply by entering your zip code. Many stores also have profile pages here so you know what you are getting.
