Best Sports Bars in Jacksonville, Florida

Three Sports Bars that Will Have You Cheering the Good Food as Well as the Good Brews

With its own NFL football team, the Jacksonville Jaquars, and a melting pot of folks rooting on college teams - most notably the Florida Gators - you can bet that Jacksonville will have some game changing sports bars. These top three bars all blast by the competition when it comes to determining the best sports bars in Jacksonville.

Kickbacks Gastropub - Riverside

It's no secret that the Riverside area of Jacksonville is just about my favorite part of the city and the uniqueness of Kickbacks Gastropub as a sports bar is just one of the reasons why. The beer selection is probably one of the largest in Jacksonville with over 60 beers by tap and 400 bottled selections available. One word for the menu is "eclectic," with everything from salads to a Fat Julian (Kickback's version of heart attack on a plate) to sloppy joes, spaghettios, and chicken artichoke risotto orzo. Of course there are burgers and wings, too. And did I mention they also do breakfast?

Plenty of TVs for watching sports, too. But there's also live music, trivia night and poker night. Fan them on Facebook to keep up with the latest brews and the latest news.

Sneakers Sports Grille - Two Locations: Jacksonville Beach and Baymeadows

With two locations in popular areas of the city, nobody could argue that Sneakers hasn't done it up just right. With huge screens for viewing your favorite team (and plenty of smaller ones, too), Sneakers is the perfect sports bar for viewing a game with your friends or just dropping by yourself to watch the game with new friends.

The menu is large and varied and quite good for a sports bar with anything from baked potatoes for under $4 to prime rib at $22. You'll find the usual complaints about slow service. But Sneakers is a large sports bar and they do their best. Needless to say, Sneakers is more appropriate for a leisurely afternoon watching the Jacksonville Jaguars and not so great if you're trying to get back to the office quickly on a weekday.

Miller's Ale House - Orange Park and more

Miller's Ale House is also a good choice for a sports bar in the Orange Park of Jacksonville when you are in the mood for a seafood selection to cheer on your favorite team. This sports bar is a small chain that originated in Jupiter, Florida and now has over 50 sites in Florida, Georgia, New York, Pennsylvania, and Illinois - with a new site scheduled in 2010 for Las Vegas. There are often 5 for $5 beer specials or $5 bucket or pitcher nights.

One of my favorite appetizers at Miller's Ale House is the chicken cheese nachos. I also enjoy the Salmon Catch of the Day entree. The TV's at Millers are nicely located for sports viewing and it is an easy place to meet friends or make new ones. Not cavernous like many sports bars but you won't be watching your favorite game by yourself, either.

There are additional locations in Jacksonville including Jacksonville Beach, the Regency Square area, and more.
