Best Spots for a Romantic Dinner in Carolina Beach

George
Take your sweetie to Carolina and Kure Beach for a romantic dinner by the salty Atlantic waters. Nothing sets the mood quite like dinner by the sea. I don't know if it is the water's smell, lights glistening in the ocean, salty air, or bustling energy levels that make couples flock to Carolina Beach restaurants to have a romantic night out. There are a few restaurants that are of particular interest to sweethearts - The Cottage, Big Daddy's, and Michael's. These three dining facilities have just the right atmosphere and food that you seek for your special night. Let's take a look at why.

The Cottage Seafood Grill - The Cottage is a renovated beach house from the early 1900s. It's restoration has won awards from a few local historical societies. The restaurant is open and modern, with outdoor and screen decks where you can choose to dine. Being so close to the beach, a romantic dinner on the outdoor patio would be perfect. The sound and smell of the ocean will put you in such a romantic mood. The Cottage offers seafood, chicken, steaks, and pasta on their menu. You can also order any alcoholic beverage and/or a special bubbly off the wine list. For dessert, the flourless chocolate cake or scrumptious key lime pie is a winning decision for romantic dining.

Big Daddy's - Big Daddy's has been on the corner of K Avenue and Lake Park Blvd. in Kure Beach for over 30 years. The restaurant looks like a house, so don't be fooled when you are driving by looking for it. When you walk in, you'll travel through a colorful gift shop and wishing fountain before reaching the dining area. Big Daddy's serves up tasty seafood and a variety of combination platters. Most of the menu includes steaks, fresh local fish species, and chicken. The seafood choices at Big Daddy's can be cooked any way you like - fried, broiled, steamed, etc. There is even an all-you-can-eat salad bar at Big Daddy's. You will be seated in one of several different rooms. While you're waiting for your food, you'll be very entertained by the marine knick-knacks hanging about. Big Daddy's is closed in the off-season, but re-opens in late March. Dress casually and expect a delicious meal at a great price.

Michael's - Michael's Seafood Restaurant was a 2001 winner of the Restaurant of the Year Award by the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce. When you dine there, you will see why it is so popular for both locals and tourists. Succulent steak, seafood, chicken, and pasta dishes are served all throughout the day. Note to health nuts, nothing at Michael's is fried. Only broiled and steamed platters are available. The elegant dining area features a 700 gallon aquarium which is home to many beautiful sea creatures. If you don't want to be inside, enjoy your romantic dinner beneath the stars on the outdoor deck. Live bands play on the weekends. Michael's is located on Lake Park Blvd just over the Snow's Cut Bridge. It isn't by the water, but there is no lack of salt and sea in the air!

When you're finished eating at one of these fine restaurants, take off your shoes and go for a sensual walk on the beach or one of the two piers. Hold hands and gaze at the stars. Kiss, and enjoy being together at one of the most romantic places in NC!
