With Valentine's day coming up soon, many people are thinking of where to take their Valentine for a romantic dinner. Memphis has no shortage of nice restaurants to eat at, but which are perfect for a romantic evening? This article will highlight four restaurants that are distinctly different in the cuisine offered, but all have a romantic feel to them.

The French have long been known for their romantic flare, so it is only fitting that you would take that special person the premiere French-Asian cuisine restaurant in Memphis, Chez Phillippe. Chez Phillippe is located inside of the Peabody Hotel and is the only Mobil four star restaurant in the city. The chef de cuisine is Reinaldo Alfonso. They feature an al a carte special with three courses running $65.00, five courses running $70.00, and the Chef's seven course tasting menu costing $80.00. Also, one night a month Chez Phillippe takes a break from it's usual cuisine to celebrate the culture of another country. On February 15th, the theme will be Taste of Africa and will feature cuisine from Egypt, Morocco, and Ghana. This special dinner takes place from 5:00pm-10:00pm and is $65.00 a person. If French-Asian cuisine is not for you, perhaps you'd like to have a great steak. There is no better place for a great steak in Memphis than Folk's Folly Prime Steak House. Folk's Folly has been in the Memphis area for over twenty-five years and is the only locally owned and operated prime steak house. The steaks at Folk's Folly come from corn-fed cattle and their seafood is flown in fresh daily. This commitment to excellence has earned Folk's Folly many awards including being named one of America's Top Ten Steakhouses by the Tom Horan America's Top Ten Club. You can reserve an intimate dining room for that special evening for two at Folk's Folly. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 901-762-8200 or 800-467-0245. To learn more about Folks Folly or see a menu go to www.folksfolly.com.

Seafood is often a popular choice when dining out. One of the best places for seafood in Memphis is The Pier. This Memphis landmark is located close to the river with romantic views of the riverboats passing by. The Pier has been in Memphis for over twenty years and offers a wide variety of seafood such as lobster tails, fried catfish, and grilled amberjack. There are also steak and chicken offerings for those who do not want seafood. One of the most memorable things about The Pier is the people who walk around selling fresh roses. This is definitely a plus when you are trying to impress that special someone! For more information on The Pier go to www.butchershop.com/html/the_pier/html. For reservations call 901-526-7381.

For Japanese cuisine and a fun entertaining atmosphere, the place to go is definitely Benihana. The first Benihana opened in the United States in 1964 at a time when Japanese cuisine was unknown here. Benihana was founded in Tokyo soon after the war and was first opened in the U.S. as a four table restaurant in New York City. This restaurant is known for its Hibachi style cooking. Guests sit at a communal table and the chef cooks the food right in front of them. To learn more about Benihana and find locations all over the United States go to www.benihana.com. For reservations at the Memphis location call 901-683-7390.

While these restaurants are just a sampling of what Memphis dining has to offer, they are by far the best. So, when you are thinking of where to take that special Valentine this year, give these restaurants consideration. You will not regret it!
