Best Spots for a Romantic Dinner in Milwaukee
Neighborhood: Metroplex

Milwaukeeans know how to eat and there is no shortage of great places to dine. Here are a few of my favorite romantic dining spots in Milwaukee County. All restaurants are listed by price, they are no listed based on food and service quality.

Under $10:
Los Mariachi's
4305 W Layton Ave
Milwaukee, WI 53220
(414) 325-7800

A great Mexican restaurant just off of Loomis Road. They have semi-private booths for up to four people to enjoy a nice quiet dinner. Their Combo Fajita plate is awesome with it's crunchy peppers, different meats and seafood, and toppings such as salsa. The portions are generous and the service is acceptable. Recent improvements to the building have helped the restaurant look less run down. If your dining on the weekend you will be able to enjoy a Maraiachi band.

Under $15:
That's Amore
5080 S 108th St
Hales Corners, WI 53130
(414) 425-7150

My husband is Italian so I hate going to Italian restaurants with him. I always hear, "My Mom makes this better." or "I could make this better." However, I took the chance and my husband and I headed out for a nice romantic dinner. The restaurant was very busy so we were placed in a semi-private small dining room with a large party and two other small tables. There was one waitress for the whole room, so I was not impressed by the service. I was impressed by the food, I ordered Spodini. I had never had Spodini before so I was unsure what to expect. Spodini is a stuffed sausage and besides the shortage of sauce I loved the dish, once I got extra sauce the Spodini was even better. That's Amore is a great place for a well-made, filling dinner that is not over priced.

Under $25:
Maggiano's Little Italy
2500 N Mayfair Road
Wauwatosa, WI 53226
414-978-100

Great food, but not authentic Italian food. Maggiano's is always extremely busy, so be sure to make a reservation and be prepared for a ten to twenty minute wait. You can order from the regular menu or have your food served "family style." The family style dining is better for a large group of people. The service is always excellent at Maggiano's, but the restaurant is usually fairly loud so it is not the best selection for a first date.

Under $50:
Five O'clock Club
2416 W State St
Milwaukee, WI 53233
(414) 342-3553

The 5 o'clock club is probably the best restaurant in Milwaukee County, not just for service either. The Five O'Clock Club is famous for it's blackened steaks; Huge, juicy, delicious steaks. You will definately need a reservation since The Five O'Clock Club has a loyal following of diners. The restaurant itself is nothing spectacular, just an overcrowded dining room with a bar, but their food and service more than makes up for the lack of ambiance. The downfall is that the tables are close together and private conversations are impossible. If you need to impress someone or are on a first date The Five O'Clock Club is the place to dine. Be prepared to drop at least $100 for just two drinks and two entrees.

The Melting Pot
19850 W. Bluemound Road
Brookfield, WI 53045
(262) 782-6358

The Melting Pot is a unique dining experience. The Melting Pot specializes in fondue. There is a great dinner for two experience were you chose a Cheese, Salad, Entree (and cooking style), chocolate. Due to the meal being fondue style, each portion of your four course meal takes about twenty minutes. A dinner for two can take as long as two hours, however the booths are private and the restaurant is quiet. The Melting Pot is a great place for a first date or new experience. The Melting Pot also has a full wine menu to compliment your fondue.
