Best Spring TV Dramas for Moms

Pam Gaulin
If you love drama, moms, tune into the most nail-biting and exciting shows of the 2009 spring TV season. While there are very few dramas focused on moms this season, there are three with women at the helm. These gripping dramas will take you out of your daily life and on an exciting adventure, if only for an hour.

Damages

Damages
is a powerful drama about people doing unspeakable things. It's also one of the rare TV shows this spring that has female lead characters. Damages stars Glenn Close. The show is non-linear and takes more twists and turns than a poorly-programmed GPS navigation system. Damages is airing new episodes this Spring on FX. Also in the cast is a TV-favorite from Cheers, Ted Danson.

Damages airs on Wednesday nights at 10pm. Episodes may also be viewed online, if you want to catch up or relive your favorite moments. http://www.fxnetworks.com/shows/originals/damages/episode.php

Harper's Island

Moms who love a good mystery will fall for Harper's Island. Combine a classic who-dunnit premise with Survivor, and you have Harper's Island. This mystery drama is not a reality show or an unscripted show it just happens to take place on an island.

Viewers will be challenged to figure out the clues, as they are taken in by the romance that always seems to crop up on an island.

Harper's Island airs on CBS starting on April 4, 2009 at 10pm.

Two from TNT

The Closer and Saving Grace, two drama with women leads are returning with new episodes this spring. Saving Grace starring Holly Hunter returns in March. The Closer, starring Kyra Sedgwick returns with a new episodes on Monday, February 2, 2009 at 9pm.

Moms in the mood to watch two strong women should tune in to these Spring TV dramas.

Trust Me

Moms get treated to more eye candy and more adult situations with Trust Me, a new drama starring Tom Cavanagh (Ed) and Eric McCormack (Will & Grace). TNT has been pushing the promos of this new drama hard, in a modern day mingling of Mad Men and Nip Tuck.

If you're looking for a fictionalized account of how ad agencies are run, written from the perspective of people who have worked in the industry, this is the show for you. Familiar to any working moms or office moms will be the office politics and conflicts between people that come with any office job. This is the type of show that can make any work-at-home moms happy to not have to commute into an office every day.

Griffin Dunne, whose least memorable role was with Madonna in Who's That Girl, and Monica Potter, of Boston Legal also star in the show.

Trust Me airs on Monday nights on TNT at 10pm.

The Beast

Patrick Swayze fans, rejoice. Moms get some eye candy with one of their favorite dancing actors. Patrick Swayze is an FBI agent in The Beast, on A&E. It airs on Thursday nights at 10pm this spring.
