Best Stand Up Comedians You Have Never Heard Of

In consideration of the fact that we are living in an age of quick fixes, false celebrity and limited quality, it falls upon us, the consuming masses to inform the world when real talent is out there and available to be enjoyed.

I for one would like to see all reality TV blown up in a bonfire of meat by products and Paris Hilton handbags but unfortunately it doesn't seem as though this is going to happen any time soon. It is obviously a guilty pleasure for many much like The View or anything produced by Fox News.

What is unfortunate is that in this era of garbage "would be" entertainment, the world is not getting to know some of the most brilliant and talented people of our generation because of how different the entertainment medium has become. As such, I will do my very best to introduce you to some incredibly entertaining people whom you otherwise may never have been able to experience because the airwaves are clogged with stories of Britney Spears' gastric challenges or the fascination with couples who had fifteen children that they can barely feed.

Keeping in mind that at the end of day this is only entertainment and not brain surgery, I still believe it is important to prevent the dumbing down of the masses and promote genuine talent when it is found. Without further ado, I focus at this moment on the world of comedy. I am pleased to introduce you to a few of the most talented comedic minds that you have never heard of but should.

Mike Birbiglia. He is an American with a fascination of the banal. Mike is an incredible wit and has recently begun touring larger venues in the United States introducing his unique perspective and laid back delivery. A highlight of Mike's act is his battle with sleepwalking. He turned the experience into a one man show and it just happens to be a condition that almost killed him. Do your best to catch this guy at your earliest convenience.

Ed Byrne. This is an Irish gentleman who currently makes his home just outside of London, England. With a remarkable capacity for detail and an unyielding vocabulary, Ed's biting social commentary and edgy political awareness is like nothing you have ever heard or experienced. He can found touring the United Kingdom playing to sold out soft seat theatres. A brilliant comedic performer who can be enjoyed by all.

Brian Lazanik. This is a Canadian. Brian is one of the most unique acts working today. His methodical, carefully worded material covers everything from food to amusement parks. He uses a classic tight one liner style, regularly mixing in observational mayhem with a modern twist. He is remarkably talented and equally hysterical when he is not saying anything as he is delivering a punch line. This is an act you have to see to believe.

Jim Jeffries. This talented bloke comes from the distant land of Australia. Or, if you happen to live near Australia, he happens to come from just over in Australia. Jim currently makes his home in London and has recently begun to perform in the U.S. If you enjoy dark, twisted adult tales, Jim is the man for you. Although his act is largely blue in content, he does have several bits that can be enjoyed by everyone. He is however at his best when left unrestrained and free to expound at his dirtiest. He will definitely leave you laughing and possibly feeling like you should probably take a good long bath.

These are just a few of the remarkably talented people from around the world who you should be getting to know a lot better. In my continuing quest for talent, I will keep delivering to you those who are deserving of your attention and attempt to turn you off of the garbage that we are being force fed in the world of quasi entertainment. Until then I wish you all a good night.
