Best Starcraft 2 Tips, Tactics, and Strategy Websites

Phillip Chan
Starcraft 2 is the hottest Real Time Strategy game on the market today. The multiplayer action is especially hot but players have to stay atop of the latest Starctaft builds, micro tips and tactics. Here's my top tips for the best Starcraft 2 strategy websites.

Team Liquid
Team Liquid (commonly known as TL) is one of the largest and most comprehensive websites devoted to competitive Starcraft multiplayer gaming. TL regularly features interviews with professional Starcraft progamers from South Korea, Europe and the United States, along with full tournament coverage. The popular Starcraft 1 replay and APM tracker, BwChart, may be found on the TL website. The forums are an especially useful section of TL, with the strategy and tactics forums being among the best for learning new builds and micro tips for Starcraft 2. Definitely pay attention to the various guides and build order threads in these forums. Even if you choose not to use these builds, chances are you will see other players using them online and you must know how to effectively counter them if you wish to succeed in Starcraft 2 tournaments and online Stacraft rankings. Occasionally, goodies like South Korean progamer jerseys will be offered for sale through TL (try to get in on these deals early, they sell out fast). Gossip and discussion of various behind-the-scenes happenings in the professional Starcraft (and Warcraft) gaming community are also covered. Finally, TL has a fairly decent Starcraft 1 and Starcraft 2 game wikipedia, with helpful entries and tips covered for the Protoss, Zerg, and, of course, Terran units.

Youtube
What? Why is YouTube being mentioned here? Calm down. YouTube is the place to find a motherload of Starcraft 2 replays and related videos, all for free. Starcraft 1 replays with commentary were a huge hit on Youtube, and Starcraft 2 is no exception to this. There are many channels with great Starcraft 2 replays, both of professional matches and amateur ones alike. One of my favorite ones is the Husky Starcraft channel, with great, hilarious commentary by an energetic RTS gamer. Don't overlook the videos showing different builds and strategies for Starcraft 2 either, these can be great for learning new tactics or watching some fantastic Starcraft micro.

Starcraft Wiki
While Team Liquid offers a nice Stacraft 2 wikipedia, I really like the wiki offered at this website. The overall setup seems to be a little nicer and there the graphics collections felt more comprehensive (I.e. Unit profiles and animations). While this probably is not too important for veteran players, I felt the wiki images helped me associated units visually, especially when I was first learning the game. I played Starcraft 1 fairly extensively, but didn't get into the beta and really hadn't followed the units as they were announced. Jumping into the first few weeks of the game was pretty hectic and I needed to learn the basic units and related strategies fast; this wiki really helped with that.
