Best Summer Vacation

Growing up my uncle would take my brother and I on a family vacation. We'd back up the mini-van and drive to wherever our destination was for that particular summer. It was a tradition of sorts. I would sleep on the way to wherever we were going since I got car-sick. (I wish I could sleep like that now!) The boys would watch movies and play until our pit stop or we reached our final destination.

My favorite summer vacation was when we traveled all the way from Tampa, Florida to Niagara Falls, Canada. We made many stops on the way '" but it was just such a fun trip. We had family that lived in Virginia, so we stopped and stayed with them for a couple nights and then they hopped into their mini-van and traveled along with us up to Canada as well.

We stopped in new places almost every trip, small and large '" including the Whistlestop Caf© used in the movie, Fried Green Tomatoes. It's the little things in life!

On this particular trip we stopped in historical cities, at Williamsburg, Gettysburg, before heading north to Niagara Falls. I love learning, so these experiences were very cool to me as a teenager. I like exploring, going to new places, and seeing new sights. While the expanse of the falls was definitely an awesome experience, learning more about the battles of history were interesting to me.

Once we reached Canada, we did many of the tours at the Falls, one on a boat in the middle of the waters, a climbing adventure where we had to hold on tight and wear rubberized yellow outfits. I remember joking that this made us look like ducks. We met some cool people who could only complain about the humidity '" which was hilarious us coming from Florida and all. I remember the beef tasting horrible '" but I'm sure now it was because it was actual meat and not the soy-filled variety we have in the U.S.

This trip was amazing, one that I will never forget, full of laughter and tears when someone was stuck in the car and needed to go to the bathroom. Yet, we made it! I hope to be able to take a road-trip like this with my boys, since it was so memorable to me.
