At first glance Sylar is not someone you would look at twice or even fear. I believe that is why the producers of Heroes chose actor Zachary Quinto to play Sylar. However, making the mistake of thinking that Sylar is weak would be very fatal.
Sylar is the most powerful villain on Heroes because of his ability to take a person's power and make it his own. All over the internet there are theories as to how Sylar steals powers. So far we know that he uses his power to cut open skulls and remove the brains. What we do not know is what he does with those brains that he has removed. Many fans of Heroes believe that Sylar eats the brains but we will not find out the truth until the beginning of season 2 of Heroes.
So far on Heroes we were shown that in the future Sylar will kill Isaac the painter but the future can still be changed. Sylar has attempted to kill Claire the cheerleader but she was helped and assisted by Peter Petrelli. Sylar was then kidnapped by Claire's father, the mysterious Mr. Bennett (HRG), who takes him to a place where other "special" people are taken and observed before some are released. We are lead to believe that Sylar is not one of the lucky people who will be released. After faking his death and locking up HRG, Sylar goes to HRG's home and attacks his wife before escaping.
Sylar eventually meets up with Mohinder Suresh after killing another Hero, taking his powers that allow him to melt metal objects and assuming his identity. Sylar convinces Suresh that they should work together to find new Heroes and along the journey Sylar kills the heroes that are found including a woman who has super hearing. Before long Mohinder Suresh finds out that the man he is working with is the super powered and much feared Sylar. Drugging him, Suresh holds him captive and does a few tests before aiming at his Sylar's head and pulling the trigger. With the drug worn off Sylar was able to stop the bullet mid-flight before attacking Suresh. The last episode that aired stopped with Sylar and Peter Petrelli meeting up again. This time there promises to be a showdown as each character has multiple powers.
Sylar is a great character because first he has a lot of different powers and some may not have been shown to us yet, he is also very evil but very smart and physically he is quick and agile. Heroes has hit hard and fast with such a great villain from the beginning of the show, fans can only hope that they have more evil and fiercer villains to come.
