Best Teen Online Clothing Stores

Teens, Need Clothes? Shop Online!

Mike C.

Cyber-savvy teens are pulling out credit cards and hitting the Internet super speedway to do their shopping. Reports show that 15% of teens shop online, buying mostly low-priced items such as clothing. Instead of hassling their parents to drive them to the mall, teens can now shop online, comfortably and quickly in front of their home computer. Some online teen retailers are letting the young shoppers compile all the items they desire into a wish list, which parents can view for purchasing or gift ideas.

Delias, www.delias.com, is a popular online retailer of clothing and accessories for ages 10 to 24. This particular retailer has a catalog and 31 stores scattered through the Eastern states, but the majority of its sales are from online purchases.

Delias.com is an elegant and simple website, definitely targeting young girls. Their apparel is trendy and stylish, offering everything from pants and denim to dresses to tops, tees, and hoodies. There is also a clearance section with clothing and accessories ranging from $5.99 to 50% off.

Alloy, www.alloy.com, is another leading online retailer. Alloy has a very active site, with vibrant multimedia, such as video clips of current movies, and bright ads like Teen Choice 2006 and that target young females.

The clothing at Alloy is moderately priced, averaging $20 for a knit top and $40 for a pair of jeans. Alloy sells popular brands such as Paris Blues and Bubblegum to name a few.

You can do a lot more than just shop for clothing at Alloy.com! You can beauty secrets, take fun quizzes like "How well do you know your body?" and check your horoscope. That's not all! You can even win makeovers and shopping sprees!

Geared mainly to surfers, skateboarders, and beach kids, PacSun (www.pacsun.com) has stores nationwide, but does also lead in the online retailing department. Their site is filled with colorful images of beaches and surfing. Deeply-tanned young men and women are shown wearing stereotypical prints of beach-dwelling younsters. Such prints at PacSun include tubetops for girls, flipflops, Hawaiian shirts for men, board shorts, etc.

At PacSun.com, a shopper can buy brand names like Hurley, O'Neill, Etnies, and Billabong. Those names could be the reason why prices at this retailer are a bit expensive. To illustrate prices, a young girl's O'Neill halter top costs $30 and guy's Ripcurl board shorts round out at $45. If it's surf-style clothing you want, then PacSun is your one-stop shop.

PacSun.com also has room décor, accessories, shoes, and contests. The latest contest is a chance to win a hand painted Quiksilver Mazda.

Torrid, www.torrid.com, is a retailer specializing in fashions for plus-size young women. Teens sizes 12 to 26 can shop online for the latest designs in work wear, casuals, and even club wear. There is even a wish list so individuals can add their wants to, cast their votes in polls, and enter contests.

Much of the work wear clothing at Torrid is dark and plain, such as black blazers and gray knee-length skirts. Torrid's line of casual wear is more appealing. Colorful shirts are stylish and made long to hide not-so-flattering hips and butt areas. Torrid offers capris, guachos, and jeans as another part of its casual wear. Club wear at this online retailer is not too sexy, as the name may infer. Denim miniskirts and asymmetrical tube dresses are just two examples of their club wear.

Prices at Torrid.com are a tad more expensive than what you could find elsewhere. Costs are anywhere from $30 to $65.

As more teens are starting to skip the lines at the mall, more retailers will begin posting their merchandise online.
