Best Teenage Girls Exercises

R. Bourne, Ph.D.
Exercise comes natural to children and teenage girls. Have you looked at kids when they get together? They play, jump, run, fight, etc. These are all fun activities that children and teens like to do. However, as you may already know, obesity in children and teens is becoming a big problem in industrialized nations such as the United States.

The National Association for Sports and Physical Education recommends that teens ans school age children need to engage in exercise about an hour per day. This is an absolute minimum and a little more would make up for those days when teen would not be able to do some exercise. The need of more exercise for teenage girls is increasing in importance today especially since it has been estimated that teenagers spend about 5 hours a day in front of a screen (whether a TV or a computer).

I believe adults know about the benefits of exercise but do teenage girls know? Perhaps we parents should try to teach them about it. Exercise does not need to be though on kids. They do not have to run a marathon or lift weight. They can incorporate more exercise by doing activities that they already do and they like. Take for example walking. What teenage girl does not like to walk and talk with a schoolmate? Or what teenager does not like to play ball. I believe that if we tell them that they can increase exercise by doing what they like and already do and we explain the benefits of it, they will buy it.

Now if you want to get more into technical stuff with your teenage girl and exercise you could tell her about the following benefits of aerobic exercise. Explain that exercise will strengthen and protect her heart and cardiovascular system, they will develop better, bigger and healthier bones and muscles, they will improve their self-confidence, image, and self-esteem. These are simple concepts that any teenage girl will understand about exercise.

Perhaps the best way to increase exercise in teenage girls is to let them participate in sports activities at school. Any sport is OK: tennis, baseball, soccer, basketball, volley, even ping-pong. These are all good sports to increase physical activity in girls and teenagers in general.

Want more ideas; tell your kid to walk the dog longer than usual. Both the dog and your kid will get extra exercise. Also, let them play games on Wii. Aerobics is possible wit the is game.

Swimming is an excellent exercise. It works out every muscle of their bodies and its fun, refreshing on hot days, and can be performed at any age. Teenage girls enjoy swimming and water sports in general.
