Carmichael Park-7001 Fair Oaks Blvd
Carmichael Park is a rare place where tennis players can get together a play a decent game without being bothered. Carmichael Park offers many courts that are filled throughout the day with tennis enthusiasts, but still offers enough courts were you shouldn't have to wait. The atmosphere is friendly with the occasional laughing teenagers who really don't know what they are doing. There are many caged structures that each holds two courts. At night the courts of very well lit and this is the prime time during the summer to really get things going. Water fountains are nearby as well as bathrooms. If you do not have a friend to play with you should be able to find someone to join but if you don't want to talk to anyone you can go outside the last cage where there is a slab of cement with a wall made to practice with until you feel comfortable enough to ask someone or maybe someone will see you alone and ask you. Carmichael Park's tennis courts are tucked away from all the attractions of the main park where no outside distractions should bother you. You can tell when this park was built the builders took special consideration towards making the tennis courts a place where tennis will actually be played.
Manzanita Park-5499 Manzanita Ave
This is a much smaller tennis park than Carmichael Park but still one of the very few parks with tennis courts where people are actually playing tennis. There are many fewer courts compared to Carmichael Park. The tennis courts are not in an exclusive area either and are actually located right next to the basketball courts which are also very active and may dampen the tennis player's experience. All the attractions of the park are pretty well populated but if this doesn't bother you and this park is in walking distance then this is a good park to play tennis for you.
If these parks are not particularly close to you and you have to get in the car to go to either one of these parks I would recommend just going to Carmichael Park since these two parks are only about 2 miles away from each other.
