Best Time to Visit Mexico

If you're planning to travel to Mexico this year you might be wondering when you should go. Of course the timing of your trip depends entirely on what you plan to do on your Mexican vacation. Are you a beach bunny? Then you should plan to go when the weather is best. Is your budget limited? Travel to Mexico can be significantly cheaper if you go during the off season. And if you're trying to learn a little about Mexican culture, there are plenty of festivals and holidays that are unique to the country. You can structure your trip around one of those events.

Mexico is a big country, and the weather varies from location to location as much as it does from season to season. If you're going to Mexico to soak up some sun you'll definitely want to avoid the late summer months, particularly July, August and September. This is the rainy season in Mexico. Notice that it falls around the same time as hurricane season here in the states. If the heat bothers you, be sure to avoid the Southern Coastal cities during the height of summer as it will be very hot this time of year. If you plan to visit the some of the Aztec of Mayan ruins in the mountainous regions of Mexico keep in mind that the weather will be more temperate. The evenings might even be a bit cool.

If you're trying to save money on your vacation this year, August and September could be an ideal time for your trip. Although you might not see a lot of sunshine, the cost of airfare and lodging will be less expensive this time of year, and you'll find that the beaches and other attractions are significantly less crowded.

If you would like to experience some uniquely Mexican traditions, consider visiting the country in early November. On the 1st and 2cnd of November Mexico celebrates Los Dias de Los Muertos, The Day of The Dead. At this time the country celebrates the spirit of it's ancestors, and although it sounds a bit mournful, this is a very festive time in Mexico. Cinco de Mayo is celebrated every year on May 5th. This holiday is a celebration of independence and is actually beginning to enjoy some popularity in the United States as well.
