We are all familiar with those ads that say you can lose weight by taking some magical pill or potion. Or simply lose weight without dieting. In most circumstances this is not true. There are fundamental rules that everyone should follow in order to lose weight and keep the pounds off. Often, it takes a bit of trial and error to find out what works for you. Here are a few things that I find work for me and they might work for you.
Plan Your Diet
It is important to remember that making a diet plan is the best tool for success in your quest to lose weight. Purchase a Journal to map out your weight loss plan. What are your goals? How much weight do you want to lose? Diet plan selected. Are you following a low calorie or low carb diet. You can also use the journal to log in the amount of calories consumed per day, the amount of fat consumed per meal. Take the journal with you everywhere that you go. Log in all your calories on the go and when at home. Logging in all your carbs or calories might make you put down those extra helping of fries.
Exercise Daily
Exercise helps the body shed those extra pounds. I find that it is important to select an exercise that you enjoy doing. It should be an exercise that you would enjoy continuing after losing the weight. Don't try to tackle an exercise program that makes you groan or regret starting. The best exercise is one that you can easily do just about everyday and does not require a lot of complicated equipment.
Don't Skip Meals
I've noticed that when I skip a meal to save calories it makes me extra hungry at the next meal and I pig out. Never skip on the meals. Follow a consistent diet plan each and every day. Remember to drink plenty of water to curb your appetite. Herbal tea is also a good choice to fill you up without too many excess calories.
Small Goals
Set small goals along the way. Don't try to accomplish too much too soon. For example, tackle one goal at a time like reducing the amount of calories consumed per day which eventually should lead to losing those first couple of pounds.
Meditation
Take time out from your busy day to meditate. Find a quiet room and sit down in a comfortable chair. Close your eyes and take a few deep relaxing breaths. Look inward. What are you doing that you could improve or adjust? How can you go about making changes? See yourself successful and looking better and feeling great at a new weight. Hold that picture in your mind for several minutes.
